After leaving the restaurant, Camila walked with the elder Mr. Williams and Audrey toward the parking lot. She hesitated for a moment before voicing her concerns. “Will there be any trouble with Cynthia Lee?”
After all, Camila knew that the proposed marriage alliance between the Williams and Lee families had been the elder Mr. Williams’s idea. Recalling the look on Cynthia’s face, even Camila felt a little awkward.
The elder Mr. Williams saw her worry and sighed, but his tone was reassuring. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
Although he had discussed a potential engagement with the Lees, it had only ever been a verbal agreement. Besides, Dennis had been firmly against it from the very beginning, which was why nothing had ever been formalized. Even without Camila in the picture, the engagement likely would have eventually fallen through. Still, the Williams family was technically at fault.
He had already prepared for this. When the two families met tomorrow, he would see what kind of compensation the Lees wanted. His family would do their best to make amends.
Camila knew the Lee family wouldn’t be easy to deal with and felt a pang of guilt. “I’m sorry you have to go through this trouble because of me.”
