Both Camila and Dennis knew that Aaron was always discreet. For him to interrupt them like this, in the middle of the night, meant it had to be a true emergency.

Camila gently pushed Dennis. “You should get the door and see what’s wrong.”

Dennis wasn’t so lost in the moment that he’d ignore a crisis. He quickly tucked Camila behind the door, straightened his own clothes, and then opened the door just a crack. “What is it?” he asked Aaron.

Aaron kept his eyes fixed forward, his voice tense and hurried. “Christian Stewart is downstairs. He says Mr. Adams is missing and is asking for our help to find him.”

Aaron’s expression was dead serious. Christian Stewart was Larry Adams’s trusted assistant, the one who handled most of his affairs.

Dennis’s demeanor sharpened instantly. Larry’s stepmother’s birthday gala was the next night. For him to disappear at this exact moment was highly suspicious. No wonder Aaron had forced the interruption.

“I understand,” Dennis said, his brow furrowing. “I’ll be right down.”

He closed the door and turned to find Camila looking just as worried as he felt. She had overheard everything.

She quickly straightened her clothes, the desire from moments ago completely gone. “Mr. Adams is missing? How could that happen? Is it because it’s the anniversary of his mother's death? Maybe he’s just hiding somewhere because he’s upset?”

“No,” Dennis shook his head. “In past years, he would spend the entire day at the cemetery with his mother. But this year, he had other plans. It’s possible someone found out and decided to make a move against him first.”

“Make a move?” Camila’s heart sank. “You mean… try to kill him?” All sorts of terrible possibilities flooded her mind. “Was it someone from the Adams family?”
