It would be a lie to say Christian Stewart wasn’t disappointed by that answer. But he knew he was the one who had done wrong. There was nothing wrong with worrying about his family, but when he made his choice, he never considered what would happen to Larry Adams, the man he betrayed. For Mr. Williams, Larry's best friend, to rescue his wife and child was already an act of immense kindness. Realizing this, Christian swallowed his bitterness and said to Dennis Williams, "Thank you, Mr. Williams. I'll do as you've instructed." Dennis was satisfied enough with his attitude. "Do you know where Larry is?" he asked. Christian shook his head. "I don't. My only instruction was to throw you off track and prevent you from finding him. Someone else was hired to handle his location; they didn't share that with me." Dennis narrowed his eyes, studying him. As an expert in psychology, he couldn't detect any deception on Christian's face. Believing him, he didn't press further and turned to Aaron. "Lock him up for now." "Yes, sir!" Aaron acknowledged, signaling his men to take Christian away. Once he was gone, Dennis asked, "What did the traffic police say?" "I've got the surveillance footage, but I haven't had a chance to review it yet," Aaron replied. Dennis glanced at him, understanding how busy the night had been, and didn't reprimand him for the delay. As he walked toward the car, Aaron sent the footage to his phone, and they watched it together. The route was just as Dennis had initially suspected. After leaving The Adams Group, Larry had indeed been heading home. But partway there, he appeared to take a call, after which the car turned around and headed south. Within the city limits, no vehicle could escape the cameras, so his movements were easy to track. But in the latter half of his journey, Larry's car left the city entirely. Aaron was puzzled. "What kind of emergency would take Mr. Adams to the suburbs this late at night?" Dennis frowned, also unable to fathom Larry's reasoning. It wasn't until he'd watched the entire clip that he finally understood Larry's destination. "That's the way to the cemetery." And it was after this point that all traces of Larry vanished. Dennis's frown deepened. "We're going to the cemetery," he decided instantly. "Get a different car. We can't afford to tip them off." They couldn't risk being spotted, as it would jeopardize Larry's safety. Aaron understood. "Don't worry, a clean car is ready. I'll have our men scout the area first to check for lookouts so we can avoid them." "Good," Dennis nodded. They switched to a low-profile vehicle and headed for the suburban cemetery. By the time they arrived, more than an hour had passed. Dennis's men had already surveyed the area. As expected, The Adams Family had posted lookouts. At the same time, Aaron reported, "Mr. Williams, my men found out that the call Mr. Adams received en route was from the old caretaker of the cemetery..." After getting out of the car, Dennis went straight to find the man. The caretaker was nearly scared witless by the sight of so many men approaching him. Aaron stepped forward with a disarming smile. "Don't be afraid. We just have a few questions for you, and then we'll let you go. Last night, you called Mr. Adams. What did you tell him? Repeat the conversation for us."
