Chapter 109
Vanessa POV
After finding out that I had been out for a month, I was exhausted, and I fell asleep. When I woke up again, the sun was shining, and I looked at the clock; it was noon. I had slept from five pm the day before to noon today. Alfred was not there. However, there was a bell on the nightstand. Right next to it was a
note.
Good afternoon, beautiful,
If you need help, feel free to ring this bell. Stacey is in the living room. She will help you until I return.
Love,
Alfred
That was sweet. He was going to make sure I was taken care of. I rang the bell. Stacey came in.
Afternoon, Luna.
Can you help me to the bathroom?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She helped me get into the wheelchair that Alfred had placed by the bed earlier. Stacey carefully wheeled me to the bathroom and helped me sit on the toilet. Since I wasn’t wearing any underwear, she didn’t need to help me take any off. After I finished and wiped, Stacey helped me back into the wheelchair and returned me to bed.
Are you hungry?”
‘Yes, I am.”
Stacey left the room, returning shortly with a sandwich and a soda. I ate the food, then told her I wanted another sandwich. She left and brought me a second one, which I finished. Afterward, she got my medicine, watched as I took it, and then adjusted my pillows and blankets so I could relax in bed.
Would you mind picking me some clothes out?”
‘I want to ghost see Junior.”
‘Alfred said to let him know how, when you woke up, and he would come help you get dressed to go see Junior.”
“OK, but can you get me some clothes with undergarments?”
‘Yes, Luna,
She went to the closet, picked out some clothes and undergarments, and handed them to me. Stacey then helped me put on each item. We had just finished getting me dressed when Alfred walked into the room, smiling warmly.
You could not wait,”
He spoke in a teasing tone, clearly happy that I was so eager to see my baby. Alfred gently lifted me up and carried me to the front door, where he draped a blanket over me. We got into the car together, with me sitting on his lap while a driver took us to the hospital. As soon as we arrived, I tried to stand up in my eagerness, forgetting I couldn’t, and nearly fell before Alfred quickly caught me.
Baby, be careful.”
I just want to see my baby.”

I understand.”
He picked me up and carried me to the NICU. Junior was still in the back of the nursery. That was where the sickest babies were kept, as well as the Alpha’s children. Alfred carried me to Junior’s crib, and he had his eyes open. They are blue. They are so pretty. He started crying. Alfred pulled a chair up next to his crib. He then put me in the chair. The nurse came over and arranged the leads and wires that were connected to him. She then picked him up and handed him to me. I started crying when she gave him to me. This was the first time I had to hold him. Alfred had pulled a chair up next to me and was holding my hand. He, too, was crying. He was gently stroking his little arm. We sat there with him for a long time. We even got to feed him. It was so amazing. After a couple of hours, the nurse took him and put him back in his crib.
Then Alfred carried me to the X-ray room.
What are we doing here?”
We are going to X-ray your legs and see if we can get your cast off.”
If I could get them off, it would be amazing. I was excited. We waited for the doctor to come in. He had Alfred wait outside. He X-rayed my legs and then waited for the results. It felt like forever before he came back and told us anything. He came in with a smile on his face.
I have good news, young lady.”
We can take the cast off.”
He went and got a bone saw to cut the cast off. He was meticulous not to cut me. After removal, he brought a tub with hot water and soap, washed my legs and arms, and noted a few scars, though not particularly noticeable. He then had me stand up. My legs were weak, but I knew that with time and use, they would regain their strength. I managed to stand for a couple of minutes. I was thrilled. Alfred was thrilled as well. I looked forward to getting them strong again. The doctor examined me to ensure everything was going well.
“You are on the road to recovery.”
Remember to walk to regain strength in your legs.”
I will do that.”
Alfred then carried me to the nursery to say goodbye to Junior. He was peacefully sleeping. I gently touched his cheek and then kissed his forehead. He smiled. The doctor then gave us a report on him. He was doing exceptionally well. If he stayed on the path that he was on, he would be able to come home soon. That made us extremely happy. I knew that Alfred had mentioned that a nursery had been added to the house. I wanted to see it when we got home. Alfred kissed Junior on the forehead, and then we left. It was bittersweet to leave the hospital. I could not wait for the day I got to take my baby home. It was already dinner time when we got back to the house. I could smell that Mac was cooking something delicious. Alfred helped me to the dining room. Mac ran up to me and hugged me. He was thrilled to see me.
‘I’m so glad to see you up and about.”
“Thank you, Mac,”
‘What is for dinner?”
‘Surf and turf,”
What is surf and turf? I had never heard of that. I waited for Mac to be out of hearing range, and then I asked Alfred.
‘What is surf and turf?”
‘It’s steak and lobster.”
I have never had lobster before. I knew it came from the ocean. However, they were costly. I also learned that you cooked them while they were alive. That thought turned me off to the idea of eating it. But I will try it. Alfred brought me a soda, then a salad. The salad looked delicious. I ate it all. Then Mac brought our plates out. The amount of food on the plates was massive. He set the first plate in front of me, then the second plate in front of Alfred. I looked at the plate with wide eyes. I was shocked at the amount of food available. I ate as much as I could when I tried the lobster; it was delicious. I had never tasted it before.
