The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Vanessa POV

He bent down and then kissed me on the lips. At first, I froze. I did not know what to do. I

then reached up with my arms and wrapped them around him. I leaned into him because what he was doing was taking my breath away. He was kissing me and holding me close to

him. He was gently running his hands up and down my back. I wanted more of him. He gently picked me up and put me on the bed when there was a knock on the door.

I looked at him with wide eyes. I was not expecting anyone to show up. I was only wearing a Tshirt. I quickly covered myself up. Alfred went and opened the door. It was the doctor. He had a bag with him. I knew he had things there, such as medicine and equipment for my wounds. The doctor walked into the room and motioned me to go to the bathroom with him. Alfred grabbed my hand, and we all went into the bathroom. I sat on the toilet lid and then took my shirt off. I hid my chest and crossed my legs to hide that part of me.

Alfred stood in front of me, blocking any view of my bottom half. I was grateful he did that. He was so kind, which was confusing because of the rumors. The doctor looked at

my back and took the bandages off.

Flushing the silver out of your body helps you heal.

Another day, and we can do away with the bandages.

That was good news. I was pleased to hear that. I could tell by the smile on Alfred’s face that he was happy as well. He then continued that I would need proper nutrition. That would make me stronger and healthier. He finished changing the bandages, and then he left. I grabbed my dryerase board. I then wrote:

I need clothes.

Yes, little one, they will be brought here soon.

I hope you don’t mind. I took the liberty to pick out some things for you.

* I know you will not be able to wear the bras I have picked out for you because of your back, but the underwear and other things should fit, and they will be a little bit.

Thank you.

O

I had no idea what clothes he had picked out for me, but having clothes that fit, even if they were a bit big, was good enough for me. At this point, I did not care what color the clothes were as long as I had something to cover myself. It was better than nothing. I put his shirt back on, and then we went back into the bedroom. They were bringing in a new

bed.

7

I had a new bed brought in for us.

Your scent is the only scent I want on the bed.

I had noticed faint smells of other females on the bed, but that did not upset me. He was a bachelor before he found me. I still do not know why he has not rejected me. I took this opportunity to ask him about it. I grabbed my dryerase board again and wrote:

Why have you not rejected me?

Because you are my true mate, and I want you.

He then made sure that I understood exactly what he meant by that. He came and sat down beside me. He grabbed my hand and held it in his hands.

I am Alfred and alpha of the shadow pack, accept you as my mate now and forever.(1

I started crying. He wrapped his arms around me. Then, there was another knock on the door. This time, a woman came in. I could tell by the expression on Alfred’s face that he was not happy about who it was. She walked over to him and kissed him. He shoved her away from him.

Veronica, this is your Luna.

She turned around and then gave me a look of disapproval. Alfred was not going to let that slide. He slapped her hard across the face. It scared me. I tried to become one with the couch that I was sitting on. At that point, I wanted to disappear into the sofa. I was scared and tried to be even quieter than I already was. I did not make any noise. When he turned around and saw the fear in my eyes, he grabbed her by the hair and walked out of the room.

I sat there staring after him. I was scared and did not know what to do. The rumors were true if you made him mad. I must ensure I never make him angry so he does not drag me across the floor by my hair. I heard screaming and shouting in the hallway. Then a woman

screamed and started crying. When he came back into the room, he was still upset.

I will be back later to discuss what just happened.

He slammed the door behind him. Then, there was a knock on the door, and a young lady came in carrying a tray.

Your breakfast, Luna.

The way she said Luna was concerning. It sounded like she was afraid. Did she witness what happened in the hallway? I did not know, and I was too scared to ask. She sat my food tray on the little coffee table before me. I was still wearing only Alfred’s Tshirt. But even though I was alone, I felt naked and unsafe. I lifted the lid on the plate in front of me, and on the plate was an egg, a piece of toast, and some fruit. My eyes widen. I have not eaten this much food in a while. The last time I was offered this much food was when

my parents introduced me to Alpha Robert.

We had dinner with him and his men. I did not eat much that evening, but my plate was filled with overflowing food. My mother had told me to eat very little of it. I thought it was strange because why would you fill a plate full of food and not want someone to eat it? I was glad that I had listened to my mother. After they announced that I was betrothed to Robert, I had to run out of the room and throw up. He was ugly and smelled even worse. So I did not have too much to throw up. I also got beat that night for being rude and running out. I did not care if they beat me.

After dinner was over and everyone left, I told my father that I was not going to mate with him, and again I got beat. It was that night that I started to think about running away. I was not going to be forced into a mating against my will. Also on the tray of food was a glass of orange juice. I have not had orange juice in a while. The only time I got orange juice was when I visited the doctor. He would also feed me. I was so lost in my thoughts that I did not notice that the door had opened and closed again.
