The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 39

Chapter 39

Vanessa POV

I was shocked that the queen asked me to wear her mating ceremony dress. But shouldn’t her daughter wear them to her mating ceremony?

17

Your majesty shouldn’t Stacey wear it to hers.

Yes, she will, but your ceremony is in a few days. You need this first.

She did have a point that mine was in a few days. But shifting and running with your mate is part of the ceremony. I can not do that right now. It was news to me that the mating ceremony would be in a few days. How was I going to shift? I was still too weak. I don’t understand what is going on. The queen left the room.

What did she mean our mating ceremony was in a couple of days?

1

Now that we are certain, you can shift the ceremony to next week.

That was a relief. I thought it was just a few days away. I did not know if I could shift. So what must I do to get healthy and ready to move? I know that I’m still very weak. But I somehow felt stronger than before. Was that even a possibility? Since my wolf was keeping me alive while I was being tortured and beaten all the time. I will have to talk to her. It has been a rough few days, and I was ready for a restful night’s sleep.

Alfred finished making the bed, and then we fell asleep. I started to dream. I knew it involved my wolf because I was running through the forest that seemed to be her favorite. Then I came to that same clearing.

Sasha, where are you?

I’m here.

* If I shift again, it will make me stronger.

Yes, it will. I can use my healing powers to heal you.

That was a relief. It was also good news. I knew Alfred would be happy about it. I woke up, and the sun was shining. That felt like a short nap. It did not feel like I was sleeping long

enough. Maybe it had been so long since I had gotten a good night’s sleep that my body was not used to it. I felt groggy when I woke up. I felt as if I could sleep the whole day away again. Which I knew was not possible. As people were coming from the boutique to have me pick out some clothes. Also, I would be fitted for the dress the queen wanted me

to wear.

Alfred and I went to breakfast in the main dining hall, and the table was full of food. I have never seen so much food. There was food from one to the other. Waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. For other pastries, they must have hired every baker in the village and then some. There looked to be freshly squeezed orange juice. Everything looked delicious. Alfred filled up his plate, and then he started to put food on my plate. I have never tasted bacon before. I wasn’t allowed it. They said it because it would make me fat. I assumed that they were right.

Can I have some bacon?

You can have whatever you want.

I squealed with delight. I was not expecting that answer. I expected him to say no. I tasted it. It was wonderful. It was salty and sweet at the same time. I slowly chewed it and then enjoyed it as it slid down my throat. I then got some waffles. I ate until I felt like I was going to pop. I ate everything I could but still had food on my plate when I sat back and burped. I was beyond full. I was happy and full. Alfred started to chuckle. He was chuckling because I probably looked ridiculous, but I didn’t care.

Vanessa, the king, and I talked, and we decided to make dresses for you and Stacey. The dressmaker will be here soon to meet you and her.

You what.

But why would she do that? I had no idea. I understood that someday I would take her place as queen. Everyone was very friendly and sweet. I was escorted to another room set up as a fitting room. Several boxes lined up in rows on the wall when I walked in. Several clothing racks. All of them were filled with clothes. Then, there were portable shoe racks. I stood at the door with my mouth open. I was shocked that this was all for me. Then Alfred walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around me.

What do you think?

Is this all really for me?

Yes, little one.

I was not dressed for a company, much less a wellknown one.

Where is the other princess?

3

Jaques needs both princesses here for the fitting.

I laughed because the dressmaker referred to himself in the third person.

Young lady Jaques is not funny. He is serious.

I had to catch myself before I laughed again. He was so funny. Just then, Stacey walked in. He set up a curtain, and he took Stacey behind it. I could hear her laughing and giggling. It sounded like she was having the time of her life. Jaques came storming out from behind the curtain.

Why do all these young girls laugh at me?

I don’t know, Jaques.

He then smiled and started laughing at himself. Alfred was also laughing. It was like some great secret that nobody was supposed to know about. They were being funny. It was not like I expected it to be. I expected him to be uptight and mean. But he was not. Then, it was my turn to go behind the curtain so he could get my measurements. I hesitated to go behind the curtain with just him.

Little one, I will go behind the curtain with you.

Alfred then escorted me behind the curtain. He helped me take my shirt off. I covered my breasts because I did not want Jaques to see them. Even if he is a dressmaker. I did not want him to see anything.

I will get her measurements for you, and you can use them.

But, your Highness, you are not a dressmaker.

Jaques, I can take her measurements.

Alfred did not want him to take my measurements, either. So he did it, and then I put my shirt back on. While I was trying to put my shirt back on, he stopped me. He then ran his
