I had stopped pacing for a moment, then my arm started to hurt. I immediately sent Chris to check on Vanessa. He then returned laughing.

“What is wrong with her?”

Chris looked astonished. He did not know she was pregnant, nor did I. She did not display any symptoms. I sat on the patio steps for hours trying to wrap my head around the fact that she was pregnant. I thought that I had been careful about that. I did not want her to get pregnant right now. In the future, yes, but not while she is still healing and getting stronger. I also thought that she wolves could not get pregnant until they came into heat. Then it dawned on me that we both have alpha blood in us. So that means things tend to go a lot faster than normal.
