Alfreds POV

After taking a short nap, I went to the hospital to visit my warriors. They were healing, and some would be on their way back to their homes and their mates. Which I was happy about. Some had been more seriously injured. They would take time to heal. I then went to my office. I had reports to go over. I was sitting at my desk when her scent hit me. She was on the side of the door. She did not even get a chance to knock. I yelled.

“Come in.”

When she came in, she was wearing a silk nightdress with spaghetti straps. It was a baby blue. It made her skin glow in the low lighting in my office. She looked stunning. It took me a minute to find my voice. The way she looked took my breath away.

As she walked towards me, I turned my chair sideways. When she reached me, I gently pulled her into my lap. She was sitting sideways on my lap. You could tell she wasn’t wearing any undergarments. I wanted to know why they had switched loyalty. How much did they get paid, knowing it would cost their lives? The law clearly stated what happened to traitors. I would usually ban their families as well. But if my memory serves me correctly, one of them had a disabled daughter.

I would be kind to her and her mother. I pulled a young werewolf out of his cell. He was so scared he pissed himself.

“Alpha, he threatened to kill my sister.”

That was interesting. His sister Catherine had not mentioned being bullied or even finding her mate.

That was the wrong thing to say. I picked him up by the throat. His feet were dangling from the ground. In one movement, I could snap his neck in half.

He started to struggle, then he passed out. I then threw him back in his cell, and the guards chained him up. He was not dead, just passed out. I then went to Veronica’s cell. She was dirty, and she was laughing.

“No, she is not. She is well and doing fine.”

Just to confirm that I was telling the truth, I mind–linked with Stacey, and they were on their way to the hospital. Vanessa wanted to visit the warriors who were injured.

“You and your brother will face a trial at the same time, and you will both be sentenced

to death.”

She went pale and fainted. I walked out of her cell. I then went to Roberts‘ cell. He was laughing, and I did not care to hear it. I had him against the wall in seconds. He was fighting and trying to break free. For an alpha, he was a weakling. That is why he needs Vanessa. Because she can enhance his powers. She could also enhance my powers. But that is not why I want her. I needed her because she is my mate. Her powers were a bonus. But I would never just use her for her powers.
