The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82

Alfreds POV

82

After going to the jail to interrogate Robert, I headed to the bank. I needed to sign some paperwork. It would allow Chris to have access to the pack’s money while Vanessa and I were away for the week that I had planned. When I walked into the bank, I was greeted by

Lola.

Hey, Alfred.

Hey, Lola.

She has been handling the pack’s banking needs for a long time. I no longer require her to be formal. She would be if she needed to be. It was sad about her mate getting injured a while back. I have ensured that he receives payment every couple of weeks. He was an awesome warrior and still was to a degree. He is now the head of my security division. He would help my commander pinpoint the weaknesses in the walls and in patrols. His last battle was a couple of years ago. His leg was severely injured. He now walked with a limp.

Shall we get those papers signed?

Yes.

`I made sure to read over the papers carefully. I did not want any issues. Everything seemed to be in order. I then signed them. I shook her hand and left. I then mindlinked Stacey to see where they were at. They were still at the hospital. Vanessa was helping with the injured. She was truly a great Luna. No, Luna has never helped in the hospital. My mother did and still does. But she was with my father. I walked over to the hospital. Vanessa was at the snack cart. It looked like she had a very long day. Her hair was a mess. But she looked stunning. I kissed her neck and wrapped my arms around her. Then I pulled her close to me.

There you are.

Little one, have you been here all day?

Yes

Time for you to come home.

Chapter 82

I could tell she wasn’t ready to go home. But she was going to go whether she liked it or not. I picked her up and carried her to my waiting car. I had one of the Omegas driving. He already had the door open for us. I climbed into the car, still holding her. I then sat her on my lap. In one smooth motion, I got out of the car with her still in my arms. I knew that Mac would have dinner ready for us. We will eat with the warriors tonight. They needed to see us there with them. Even though both of us had made our way to the

hospital. She also stayed all day and helped the nurses.

She is a true Luna. She amazes me every day. I also had Mandy pack mine and her suitcases for our trip. I told her what Vanessa needed to be packed. I walked to the head of the table. Everyone had stopped eating and stood up, waiting for us to sit down. The warrior who was sitting in the chair next to the head of the table offered to move, but I would not hear of it. Vanessa is going to sit in my lap. I was going to make sure she ate tonight. I don’t know when the last time she was. I know that she ate breakfast, but did she eat lunch?

Once dinner ended, Vanessa and I made our way upstairs to our room.

* Vanessa, we are going away in the morning.

* Where are we going?

That is a surprise.

It was a surprise. We were going to go to my secret cabin. We both needed to get away for a while. She was thinking about everything that had happened and blaming herself; she was even feeling guilty. I did not like that. I could hear her thoughts and feel what she was feeling. Instead of getting mad, I tried to reassure her.

My sweet little one.

You are worth all this trouble and more.

She grabbed a longsleeved nightgown and went to change. I think she needed to feel the comfort it provided her. I changed into some shorts and climbed into bed. I made sure to move the blankets aside from her side of the bed. When she came out of the bathroom, I patted the spot next to me. She climbed into bed and then scooted over to me. She laid her head on my chest. It was not long before she fell asleep. Her scent was so comforting, and the sensation of her hair against my chest felt amazing. It was tickling me and turning me on. If she had not had such a long day, I would try to initiate sex. But she

needed rest. I held her until she fell asleep.

After Vanessa fell asleep, I prepared for patrol. Even as alpha, I still do patrols. Everybody who is a warrior has to take a turn patrolling. Again, I have my whole pack trained to help defend it. I went to the south side first. It was the weakest side. I had doubled the guards on that side. They were still repairing the wall on that side. It was damaged a couple of years ago during a war with vampires. It has taken us this long to repair it. We have been so busy with our guns and protection details. Now I have been busy with politics and looking for my mate.

Everything seemed quiet here. I then moved to the west wall. While I was walking around the wall, I found a hole. There were footprints leading towards the village. I took off running. They did not get very far. The warriors had them on their knees. They were rogues. It was impressive that they caught them a few feet away from the wall.

What are you doing within my borders?

We’re sorry, we were looking for refuge.

From what?

The alpha is named Dominic.

Everyone went silent, myself included. Alpha Dominic was someone to be reckoned with. He was as violent as they came.

* Put these guys in jail.

After ordering the rogues to be taken to jail, I headed there as well. I intended to question Robert further. This time I was not going to be very nice. I went into his cell, and three of my warriors helped carry him to the interrogation room. They strapped him to the chair. It was made of silver. He screamed out in pain. I knew everyone could hear him. I discovered that Dominic had intended to force Vanessa to mate with him so she could share her powers with him. I knew that she could share her powers.

But I did not want to do that to her. Because it could hurt her or worse, kill her. I finished my interrogation and then killed Robert. I tore his head off. I then went back to the house to get a couple of hours of sleep. We were leaving in the morning, and the timing could not be more perfect. Since Alpha Dominic was searching for Vanessa, and his people were seeking refuge. When I walked into our bedroom.
