“He was going to reject me if I didn’t leave him alone,” Samuel mutters in a dull tone. “He didn’t give me a chance to even say if I was ok with it, orift was fine with what happened that night.” He lets out a faint laugh and looks at me. “I’m pathetic, aren’t I? Who knows how I feel? I didn’t even get a
chance to explore it.”
Seeing how broken my best friend is breaks my heart. I pull Samuel into a hug and feel him tense against me. “You’re not pathetic, Sammy. You’re hurt and in pain. What happened wasn’t your fault… what he did isn’t right at all!”
Anger rushes through me. How dare Peter hurt Samuel like this! I rub his back as Samuel starts to shake again. He’s stifling sobs which only adds fuel to the flames. Theed to give Peter a piece of my mind!
I take in a breath and Samuel’s scent reaches my nose. I noticed it earlier but why does it smell so off? It reminds me a little bit of… a strange thought comes to mind. No… it’s rare but… could Samuel be…?
Just then Samuel suddenly pulls away and covers his mouth. As he moves away and retches, I freeze and stare at him. This almost confirms it but… “Sammy… please come with me.” I stand up and offer him a hand. “I think you need to see Olivia right away…”
Samuel looks up at me his face pale and his eyes bloodshot. Has he been this way since that day? Guilt runs through me. I was so focused on myself and finding Skylar that I neglected the one person who always had my back even as useless Omega Daisy.
As he takes my hand, I help Samuel up and lead the way back to our pack. He keeps his eyes low to the ground and pants faintly. Now looking at him better I can see Ke’s lost some weight too. That’s not for his condition at all!
“It’s just nausea… I haven’t been able to eat anything recently. I think it’s just depression and stress.” Samuel rambles on but that only concerns me more. “Daisy… I’m fine.” He whispers but I don’t look at him. He’s a terrible liar.
It reminds me of when we were young. Samuel always tried to take some of the punishment from me by lying about being involved as well. His tone always got higher and his ear tips turned red. Freda was the first to point it out and after that, he’d cover his ears while lying instead. He was always an open book who wore his heart on his sleeve. Easy to read and so sweet, that was and still is the Samuel I know.
I take a peek and see his ears. Yep, definitely lying. “You can’t lie to me so don’t try. That’s not an order as a Luna but as your friend.” I reply and knock on the door to Olivia’s home. “This is for your own good. I need to confirm it before I go mad.”
Samuel frowns and looks ready to ask why when the door opens, The one who answers is a light brown–haired blue–eyed girl named Hazel, a Gamma’s daughter who recently joined Crimson Moon. She’s Olivia’s new apprentice.
Hazel’s face flushes seeing Samuel but she turns her attention to me. “Greetings. Come inside. What seems to be the trouble?” She asks while sneaking peeks at Samuel.
It’s obvious to everyone that Hazel has a crush on Samuel. Well everyone except him anyway. She ran away from home for reasons unknown and was nearly assaulted by a rogue leader. The person who saved her and brought her back to our pack was Samuel. Since then she’s always seen him as an amazing hero and admires him always.
“I want Sammy here to get checked out. Can you bring Olivia to us, please? We’re going to the room I usually visit nowadays.” I tell her giving her a hint as to what I want to check. I don’t want to see it out loud yet as I don’t want to scare Samuel right now.
Hazel’s eyes widen and she looks puzzled but she nods. “Of course! I’ll tell her right away!” She looks over to Samuel again befor off. I’m glad she was able to check on what I was saying.
ing and walking
I lead Samuel to the room and make him sit down. He looks around and frowns. “Will you just tell me what you’re worried about already? You’re making me anxious.” He mutters and holds himself.“I hate seeing the pack healer and you know it!”
This makes me smile and giggle a bit. He always hated getting medicine and being checked out when we were children. He’d always whine and throw a small fit because he hated taking bitter medicine and being on bed rest. I’m happy to hear that he hasn’t changed from back then.

I hear a knock on the door and watch as Olivia steps inside with Hazel behind her. She pauses seeing Samuel in the examination chair and shoot ma baffled look. I give her a small nod and she clears her throat.
