Horatio was planning to wait for the operation to end and to accost Dr. N right away.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the operating theater was becoming more tense.
"Hemostat!" Natalie's slightly hoarse voice rang out.
"Her blood pressure is dropping!" May suddenly cried out.
"It's 90/60, and her heart rate is increasing!"
Natalie's hand did not tremble at all. "Prepare a 0.5mg IV bolus of epinephrine."
Her voice was frighteningly calm, and her movements became even more precise.
The doctors, who were observing Natalie, held their breath as they watched her operate skilfully on the blood vessels and the nerves.
"The adhesion between the tumor and the brainstem is more serious than anticipated," an observing doctor said in a low voice.
Outside the operating theater, the hospital director was focused completely on the surveillance screen as he watched the entire operation. He let out words of admiration from time to time. "It's perfect… Her technique is like art…"
Walter looked grimmer than ever. Audrey and Hailey were stunned.
They had thought that Natalie had just been boasting. Was the person operating inside really Dr. N?
Horatio's gaze was locked onto the slender but determined figure on the surveillance screen. Although he could not see her face, he could sense a kind of indescribable charisma.
Horatio had assumed that time would go by very slowly, but a few hours passed without him even noticing.
The operation had gone on for six hours already, and Natalie's white operating gown was already soaked with sweat. Despite this, she maintained the same focus as she had at the beginning.
"This is the last step," she said softly, her fingers as steady as a rock. "Get ready to stitch her up."
Generally, simple stitches were done by the assistant, but this was Charlotte. Natalie did not dare to relax. She was going to do the stitching personally.
The operation had succeeded, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
The doctors who had been watching outside were all extremely excited. They had witnessed a very rare operation that day.
Horatio was staring at the figure relentlessly.
"Mr. Hurrell," someone suddenly called out to him.
Horatio turned to look and saw that the hospital director was standing behind him, smiling widely.
Horatio grunted impassively and turned his head again, only to find that the person in the operating theater was walking toward the sterile zone.
The patient was being pushed to the ICU for monitoring.
Horatio's brow furrowed, and he hurried over.
Everyone had taken off their protective glasses, masks, and gloves. They were doing the final clean-up after the operation.
Horatio glanced at them, and his gaze alighted on May.
