The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 27

The medical kit was the only kit available in the apartment, which Emily had packed just to deal with altitude sickness.

Gabriel didn't say a word, which meant his silence was approval.

Before leaving, Amelia looked back and gave Emily a triumphant smile.

When the sound of the car engine came from outside, Emily walked to the door and was ready to lock it when a large hand pushed it open from the other side. Gabriel was back.

The coldness from the night air clung to him, and his eyes were dark, unreadable under the light.

The frustration Emily had been holding in finally erupted.

"What are you doing back here?" she snapped.

Instead of answering, he slammed the door shut behind him and stepped closer, his tall frame looming over her.

The oppressive pressure rolling off him forced her backward until her shoulder blades hit the cold wall, with nowhere left to retreat.

The next second, he braced one arm against the fall beside her head and trapped her between his chest and the wall. As he lowered his head, his warm breath brushed against her skin.

Before Emily could speak, his kisses came down hard, forceful and rough.

Her mind buzzed before exploding with humiliation and rage. After mustering all the strength she could, she shoved her back and yelled, "Get out!"

Her chest heaved from the cold, and the towel wrapped around her slipped loose, exposing a stretch of pale skin.

Gabriel's dark gaze fixed on her and eventually settled on her damp, glistening skin. "Aren't you trying to seduce me by dressing like that?"

His voice was low and edged with mockery.

Emily's lips curled into a cold, sarcastic smile. "You think too highly of yourself, Mr. Holton. You walked in just as I stepped out of the shower, and if it'd been any other man at the door, I'd have looked exactly the same."

Behind the closed door, Emily listened to the car engine sounds fade away before exhaling in relief. She grabbed everything Amelia had touched—including the cashmere blanket—and stuffed it into a black trash bag, then dragged it down the alley to the trash cans.

With no medicine left, she had to drink some honey water. Fortunately, she drank it in time, and her cold symptoms didn't worsen.

The next day, she arrived at the medical mission site as usual. As soon as she got there, a nurse rushed over and exclaimed, "Dr. Sterling! We've got a patient showing signs of acute heart failure! We urgently need digoxin, but the pharmacy is out!"

Emily's heart jolted. She had a backup vial of digoxin in her medical kit, which Amelia had taken.

With a life at stake, she couldn't waste a second. After obtaining Amelia's address from the medical mission coordinator, she rushed over immediately.

Amelia came to the door dressed in a silk nightgown and leaned lazily against the doorframe. There was a lazy, smug smile on her face. "What brings you here, Dr. Sterling?"

Emily had no patience for small talk. Her eyes scanned the room and landed on the medical kit on the couch. "I'm here to take back what's mine."
