Emily nodded at Amelia indifferently and said, "Sure. Let's do it now."
The smile on Amelia's face stiffened in an instant.
Turning to Mallory, Emily said, "Go get Dr. Jamison from the obstetrics and gynecology department and Dr. Langford from the laboratory department. Tell them Mr. Holton's girlfriend is feeling unwell. Tell them to come over to do a joint consultation."
Mallory was stunned for a second, but she understood her right away.
Stifling a laugh, she nodded enthusiastically and replied, "Alright."
Amelia, on the other hand, panicked. Trembling, she grabbed Gabriel's sleeve tightly without thinking and asked, "Wh-what are you trying to do to me, Dr. Sterling? I-I'm scared."
Gabriel shielded her behind him, looking sullen.
"Emily, this is a hospital. Don't think that you can just do whatever you want because of your status," Gabriel warned.
Emily looked at him with a raised eyebrow and asked, "Haven't you always been worried about Ms. Waverly's health? With so many experts gathering together for a consultation, we'll thoroughly check her from head to toe. We'll determine which aspect of Ms. Waverly's health is lacking, and we'll address that. This will most definitely put your mind at ease, don't you think?"
Amelia resisted and said with a catch in her throat, "I don't want that, Gabe. I'm scared to be examined by a group of doctors. I—"
"What's the matter? You don't have the guts?" Emily cut her off.
Emily's gaze sent a chill down Amelia's spine, making her clench her jaw. She then turned to Gabrel, shaking her head with all her might.
"I'm really feeling unwell today, Gabe. Let's do the checkup another time, alright? Let's just leave," said Amelia as she turned around, trying to run away.
Suddenly, someone grabbed Amelia's wrist.
It was Emily.
She had just finished a four-hour surgery, so she didn't have a lot of strength. Still, her grip was too strong for Amelia to break free.
She looked at Amelia and said in a soft but stern voice, taking no for an answer, "Ms. Waverly, it's because you're unwell that you need to be treated right away."
Gabriel's eyebrows furrowed tightly, the air around him heavy and suffocating.
"Emily, let go," he growled.
