The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 32

Gabriel looked around the apartment that was so simple to the point that it was shabby, and he frowned.

"We're a married couple," he said, landing his gaze on her once again. "I'm staying here starting from today."

Emily crossed her arms, her eyes filled with a sneer.

"Ms. Waverly is still waiting for you at the hospital, yet you came here instead. Are you not afraid she'll be sad?"

As soon as she said that, he pulled her in with a powerful force, slamming her into his firm chest. The cool yet domineering scent of cedar, which belonged to Gabriel, enveloped her in an instant.

He grabbed her waist with one hand and stroked her back slowly with the other. The heat of his palm burnt her skin through her thin clothes, making her feel numb.

His thin lips neared her ear, his breath hot.

"Why must you say one thing when you mean another? You obviously look forward to my coming, but you keep pushing me toward Amelia. Do you think I'll spare you a second glance if you do this?" he asked.

His voice was deep and sexy, but his words cut deeper than a knife.

"Emily, this trick of yours is indeed brilliant. And just as you wished, you've successfully caught my attention," he added.

Emily's body stiffened as she said, "You are really great at flattering yourself, Mr. Holton."

She looked up, staring right into his unfathomable eyes as she continued, "Maybe I did have these types of thoughts in the past. But now…"

She paused before she slowly said, "All I want is to divorce you."

The air thickened with tension.

The teasing gaze in Gabriel's eyes completely disappeared. It was replaced with an icy look instead.

His arm around her waist tightened. "Because of another man?" he asked.

Emily's fury knew no bounds at this point. She raised her hand and slapped him with all her might.

The slap echoed through the entire living room and forced Gabriel to turn his face to the side.

At that moment, nothing but heavy breathing filled the room.

Emily's hand was still numb, her chest rising and falling aggressively.

"Gabriel, do you think all women are like Amelia, caring about nothing but romantic affairs?" she asked.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, but there were no tears, only boundless rage and humiliation.

"You were the one who had an affair, yet you have the nerve to question if I have another man. How dare you?" he barked.

Gabriel turned around slowly. A red palm print was quickly forming on one of his cheeks.

He looked at her fiery gaze and saw no schemes or pretense. All that was was the purest rage for being wrongfully accused.

He felt his heart drop. He seemed to have truly pissed her off.
