But the next second, she watched in disbelief as her newfound target walked right up to Rebecca and even put an arm around her shoulder.
Katherine's eyes widened, filled with fury.
Why? Why was it her again?
Samuel stared at Katherine, his voice cold. "Was it you who said she didn't have the right?"
Katherine opened her mouth, about to make an excuse.
But Samuel gave her no chance, cutting her off sharply. "Who do you think you are to say anything about her?"
Katherine felt as if she'd been struck dumb. She froze, her mind a complete blank.
Samuel looked Becky up and down. After confirming she wasn't physically hurt, the chill in his eyes softened slightly.
He then took out an invitation and handed it to the guard, who immediately said respectfully, "Mr. Thomson, please go right in."
Without another glance at Katherine, Samuel led Rebecca into the venue.
Once inside, Samuel turned to Rebecca. "Becky, why are you here alone? Where's Dylan?"
Rebecca replied, "Samuel, Dylan had something come up last minute. I didn't know you needed an invitation to get in."
Samuel gently patted her head. "I'm sorry I'm late, silly Becky. You should have called me when you got here."
Rebecca smiled slightly. "It's fine. We're in now, aren't we?"
Outside, Katherine remained frozen, her face twisting ugly as she watched the intimate interaction between Samuel and Rebecca.
Hogan and Jane were also stunned.
Jane turned to her husband. "What's going on? Why did Rebecca go in with Samuel? Wasn't she with Dylan? How did she get her claws into Samuel now?"
