"Damn it!" Katherine cursed under her breath, her hands clenching into fists so tight her nails dug into her palms. "What's so great about her? Why does every man flock to her?"
Seeing Katherine's expression, Jane had a bad feeling. She knew her daughter's temper; once provoked, she was likely to do something rash.
She quickly grabbed Katherine's arm. "Kathy, calm down. Samuel and Rebecca's relationship seems unusual. We can't afford to offend the Thomson family."
But Katherine was too consumed by rage to listen. She violently shook off Jane's hand. "I don't care! I won't let her get away with this. Why should she get Alan's affection and Samuel's favor? What does she have that I don't? I'm going to make her pay today!"
Looking at Katherine's dark expression, Jane said worriedly, "Kathy, don't be reckless. We can't afford to cross any of them right now."
Katherine gritted her teeth. "Mom, I know what to do. Don't worry."
......
Alan tried several times to get close to Rebecca, but Samuel shooed him away each time.
But Alan was persistent and kept trying to approach her.
Finally, Samuel lost his patience and snapped, "Alan, didn't I warn you? If you dare touch her again, I'll make sure you can't survive in Wye."
Alan didn't dare provoke Samuel and said placatingly, "Mr. Thomson, you've misunderstood. I won't lay a hand on Rebecca without her permission. Mr. Thomson, I know you're an exceptional man, but I hope you'll give me a chance to pursue Rebecca alongside you."
Samuel's face instantly turned cold. "What did you say?"
Alan straightened his back and mustered his courage. "I said, I want to pursue Rebecca again."
Samuel sneered. "You want to pursue my Becky?"
What?
Hearing Samuel's words, Alan froze.
"Becky?"
