The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 564

Meeting Samuel's sharp gaze, Alan felt as if he were being mocked for being an insignificant ant who had dared to covet Rebecca.

This was Samuel's way of making him back down.

Recalling how he had arrogantly declared he would take care of her, Alan felt utterly humiliated, his face flushing crimson.

He never realized the gap between them was so immense.

After a moment, Alan said, "Rebecca, I had no idea about your family… But I want to congratulate you on finding them. I'm happy for you, really."

Alan's voice was a little hoarse, tinged with a forced composure.

Rebecca nodded. "Thank you, Alan. Even though it can't work out between us, I still hope you find happiness."

Alan gritted his teeth, a sense of unwillingness nagging at him. He couldn't accept that it was over between him and Rebecca just like that.

He gazed at Rebecca, his eyes seeming to burn her image into his mind. No matter how difficult the road ahead, he didn't want to give up on her so easily.

He was silent for a moment before saying slowly, "Rebecca, regardless of who you are, my feelings for you are real. I know there's a huge gap between us, but I'll work hard to become a better man. Maybe one day, I'll be worthy of you. If you just give me time, I'll prove it to you."

His eyes showed his determination. After speaking, Alan turned and left without looking back, as if not wanting to give Rebecca a chance to refuse him.

Dylan watched Alan's lovesick display and found it grating.

He snorted. Prove it? With what?

As far as he knew, Rebecca and Alan had been engaged. They were childhood sweethearts, so there must have been feelings between them.

She must have loved Alan at some point, right?

The thought made him frown.
