Grant nonchalantly scribbled out a check and handed it to Sienna, "Here's five million, just like Samantha asked for. Pay it back if you can, but no biggie if you can't. If you got the money, great. If not, don't stress."

Samantha felt like smacking herself. She was now in his debt.

As soon as Grant left, Sienna gave Samantha a light tap on the head, "The guy just dropped a fortune on you. What’s your plan?"

"I’ll pay him back as soon as I can."

"Pay him back? A sharp guy like Mr. Grant isn’t gonna let you off that easy. Are you out of your mind? That Harold guy couldn’t come up with that kind of cash in a million years," Sienna remarked.

The worry gnawed at Samantha. Grant was cunning and not genuinely interested in her. She was slowly falling into his trap. How was she going to handle this? She wasn’t a match for him, was she?

Cold sweat trickled down her back at the thought.

After leaving Samantha’s place, Grant headed to Ronan’s.

He’d already called Ronan on the way, who told him he’d be home shortly after work.

"Long time no see," Grant said as he walked into Ronan’s house.

"What brings you here?" Ronan asked, lounging on his sofa, looking relaxed.

"Just missed you, that's all."

Ronan, sensing the real reason, said, "Nobody drops by without a reason."

Grant, looking like he’d been caught red-handed, admitted, "Actually, I’ve got some news. This afternoon, your wife was out with some young guy. You know about this?"

"Young guy?" Ronan’s brow furrowed slightly. "What were they doing?"

He suspected it might be Harold.

"No idea. They came out of Jade Tower, and Samantha just hugged the guy out of nowhere. It threw me for a loop," Grant added.

Ronan was now more convinced it was Harold.

Just then, Janice came out of the kitchen and overheard the conversation. Her heart skipped a beat. Her sixth sense was tingling – Harold. But wasn’t he supposed to be at the base? What was he doing at Jade Tower? Though she wasn’t sure where Jade Tower was, she figured it was downtown.

So she stood quietly in her room’s doorway, eavesdropping. She couldn’t catch everything, but she got the gist.

"What’s up with you? Chasing after Samantha? She’s got a shady reputation," Ronan said.
