The next morning, Grant strode into Brenda's company, looking to have a word with Harold.
The day before, Grant had been just a shadow in his car, his features hidden from Harold's view. Now, seeing him up close for the first time, Harold couldn't hide his surprise and initially mistook him for one of Brenda's clients.
"Can I help you?" Harold asked, puzzled.
"I'm Samantha's boyfriend. You should know why I'm here," Grant replied with the confidence of someone used to getting what he wants. To Grant, Harold was just a rookie, not worth a second thought.
As expected, Harold hesitated, clearly taken aback by the revelation of Samantha's much older boyfriend. But he wasn't one to get involved in other people's business. "Oh. I'll keep my distance from Samantha. If she tries to contact me, I'll let you know. Will that do?"
"Perfect! Glad to see you're reasonable," Grant said, his smile more menacing than friendly. With that, he left, confident there was nothing to worry about between Samantha and Harold—a classic case of unrequited affection.
Burned by his ex-wife's betrayal, Grant was determined not to let history repeat itself with Samantha.
Back at home, Samantha was lying in bed, sulking, but she was far from suicidal. She wasn't done living yet. Even if it meant trudging through the muck, she was determined to thrive. Despite Sienna's recent cold shoulder, Samantha had no choice but to play the cards she was dealt.
With Sienna out of the picture, Samantha was resigned to stick it out with Grant, playing the role of his girlfriend or mistress.
She maintained appearances with Grant, who was quite taken with her. They made the rounds as a couple, and Samantha did her part to make Grant proud.
Grant decided to take Samantha out to dinner with Cordelia and her husband Ronan, and Samantha dressed to impress.
