Samantha always had a grudge against Cordelia, and it took just a tiny spark to fan those flames into a roaring bonfire.
Cordelia found Samantha's blunders entertaining, treating them like her personal soap opera. But when the drama fizzled out, it left her wanting more.
Storming into the room, Samantha was ready to let loose. "Oh, Cordelia, all those rich folks are having kids left and right. What about you and Mr. Evans? How many years has it been?"
Cordelia thought, 'Wow, way to hit where it hurts!' She didn't want a second child, plain and simple.
"Why do you care so much?" Cordelia shot back. "Wait till you're a wife; you'll see that popping out babies isn't all it's cracked up to be."
Reading between the lines, it was clear: Samantha wasn't Mrs. Grant yet and might never be. Yet here she was, poking her nose into Cordelia’s family planning. It was like worrying about your neighbor's diet when your fridge was empty.
Cordelia's words left Samantha fuming.
The more Cordelia dwelled on it, the angrier she became. She slammed her fork down, "I'm done here. I'm out."
She glanced at Ronan, "You coming or what?"
Before Ronan could reply, Cordelia was already heading out the door, with Ronan following behind.
Ronan had disliked Samantha for a long time. In his mind, he was thinking: 'I need to find a way to get rid of Samantha. She’s the one who killed my daughter. She deserves the worst, but Cordelia would never agree to such extremes. And for now, she's still Grant's girl, so I'll let her be.'
After Cordelia and Ronan left, Grant turned to Samantha. "Look at the mess you've made!"
To Grant, Samantha was just a toy. And now that she'd driven off Cordelia and Ronan, he was not pleased.
