The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 728

August had been buzzing around with Ronan these past few days, checking out houses and shopping for furniture. Every evening he’d come home, his excitement contagious.

About a week later, August suggested that Alana and Cordelia should move over to Serenity Manor too. He couldn’t stop singing Ronan’s praises: “Mr. Evans is so thoughtful,” “The aesthetic of Mr. Evans’s Serenity Manor is simply top-notch,” “Mr. Evans is meticulous in everything he does,” “Honestly, Cordelia, I haven’t seen Mr. Evans with a single lady on his arm.”

Hearing all this praise was becoming routine.

Cordelia started to wonder if the Ronan August kept talking about could possibly be her own husband Ronan. It was as if he had undergone a transformation.

It made Cordelia doubt herself, as if she was being unnecessarily difficult, almost as if her moving out was just her way of throwing a tantrum. She felt like she was overreacting.

Since August's return, Alana had been much brighter, no longer the silent type. She was chatty, regularly asking Cordelia for fashion advice, “Do I look good in this outfit? What about that one?” She seemed like a young girl just hitting puberty.

August adored this version of Alana – to him, she’d always been a bit simple, even childish, like a little princess, without the scheming and calculation of her sister.

Naturally, Alana was thrilled at the prospect of moving to Serenity Manor, but Cordelia declined. She felt it was more convenient to live on campus and didn’t want to intrude on her parents’ life.

Aunt Whitney stayed back to look after Callum, and August hired a new nanny since he was planning to split his time between home and Finland.

With Alana gone, the house felt emptier, leaving just Whitney, Callum, and Cordelia.

On Saturday, Victoria invited Cordelia over for dinner.
