The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 742

For the past few days, Harold couldn't get Willow out of his mind at work. Even with her sunglasses on, she had this captivating allure. He was mesmerized by the effortless grace in her speech and the nagging thought of whether he held any place in her heart.

Harold remembered he owed her a dinner.

So, come Friday, he shot her a message on Messenger: "Hey Willow, are you free tomorrow? I'd love to take you out for that meal I owe you."

Willow replied, "Sure."

"What are you in the mood for?" Harold asked eagerly.

"Surprise me. Whatever you choose, I'll go along with it," she replied with a playful tone.

Her response gave Harold a thrill of accomplishment, but he was also aware of her refined taste—after all, she'd sent him gourmet takeouts before. Not wanting to disappoint her on their first meal out, he continued, "How about some Italian? Or maybe a classic American diner?"

"How about street food? I'm craving some grilled lamb skewers," she shot back.

Harold: "..."

"Seriously," he replied, trying to gauge her sincerity.

"I'm not kidding, I really want those skewers. It's been ages since I had street food, and just thinking about it is making my mouth water."

"Alright then, I'll choose the place," Harold decided.

"But make sure it's the real deal. I want them smoky and grilled to perfection," Willow insisted.

"Got it."

Street food stalls were no big deal for Harold; he found a good spot without much fuss.
