"But I'm more worried about you being here alone," Gavin said, frowning.
"It's fine, Ransom is here with me. Besides, I'm not a child. I just promised Ulysses you'd go home to him. You should go," Rowena urged, gently pushing him.
Ransom stepped forward. "Gavin, you should go. I'll take care of my sister. And she's right, you just promised Ulysses you'd be home. If you don't go now, he'll think you two don't keep your word."
At that, Gavin put on his coat to leave. "Rowena, Ulysses and I will come pick you up from the hospital tomorrow morning."
"Okay," Rowena nodded.
Ransom walked Gavin out.
Ten minutes later, Ransom returned to the hospital room.
Rowena was lying in bed. "Is Gavin gone?"
"Yes, he's gone," Ransom confirmed. "Sister, are you crazy? You were actually going to let that daughter of his, the one with the terrible reputation, move in with you! Aren't you afraid she'd harm Ulysses? I've heard stories-she and her mother nearly destroyed the Gonzales family!"
Even though Granchester was thousands of miles from the Capital, Ann's notorious reputation had preceded her.
"What do you know?" Rowena glanced at Ransom. "This is what's called advancing by retreating. Gavin may seem like he has no feelings left for Ann, but she is his biological daughter. If I were to make a scene and oppose her, it would only fuel his guilt!"
Only by taking the high road for him, by saying all the things he was thinking, could she ensure Gavin would stand firmly on her side.
Although Rowena had only been with Gavin for four years, she knew him inside and out.
His biggest weakness was his indecisiveness. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stayed with his ex-wife for over twenty years before finally getting a divorce.
As long as she could make Gavin sever ties with Ann completely, a small injury like this was nothing.
And if Ann dared to show her face again, she had even more ruthless tactics waiting for her.
As she spoke that last sentence, Rowena's eyes narrowed. "I've already been through one failed marriage. This time, I will not allow anyone to destroy my family!"
Ransom understood instantly and smiled. "Sister, as long as you know what you're doing. I was just afraid your kind heart would get the better of you and you'd actually bring Ann home."
"Don't worry," Rowena said, a slight smile playing on her lips. "I'm not that foolish."

Two weeks passed in a flash.
Gordon once again accompanied Caitlin to the hospital.
When she got the report, Caitlin froze for a moment.
Seeing her hesitation, Gordon grew worried. "Honey, what is it? Is there something wrong with the baby?"
"The babies are fine," Caitlin said, shaking her head slightly, "but I don't think it's twins."
"You scared me," Gordon sighed in relief. "I thought there was a problem with the baby!"

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
