THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 508

Jeanette looked at Katrina, unable to hold back any longer. “Katrina, what really happened between you and Xavier? What made him become so cold?”

Normally, even if a couple breaks up, the guy wouldn’t just block his ex at the first sign of a suicide attempt. Xavier’s reaction made it clear—this wasn’t just about falling out of love.

He must really hate her now.

It takes true hatred for someone to go this far.

“Has Xavier lost his mind? How could he treat me like this?” Katrina’s jaw clenched, fury burning in her eyes. “Isn’t he even worried I might actually die?”

Jeanette shook her head. “Katrina, face reality. He really doesn’t seem to care anymore.”

“No! That’s impossible! I saved Xavier’s life—there’s no way he’d just stop caring!” Katrina shot back, her voice quivering with rage and disbelief.

Jeanette’s sigh was heavy with resignation. “Then why is he ignoring you? Katrina, stop lying to yourself.”

Katrina refused to accept it. She couldn’t believe Xavier had just cut her off so ruthlessly. Grabbing her phone, she dialed Xavier’s number again.

The result didn’t change.

Her number was still blocked.

Furious, Katrina hurled her phone at the floor.

Crack! The screen shattered, shards scattering across the tiles.

None of this made sense. Why would Xavier turn on her so suddenly? He’d been at the hotel looking for her just this morning.

At that moment, a nurse wheeled a cart into the room and stopped at Katrina’s bedside, clipboard in hand. “Katrina, right? I’m here to change your bandages.”

“Are you feeling any discomfort?”

Katrina’s heart leapt with hope. She knew it—Xavier would never really abandon her!

“Xavier, it’s me,” she said, her voice trembling with anticipation.

There was a brief pause on the line.

Katrina pressed on, “The doctors say my condition is critical. I’ve lost too much blood—my organs are starting to fail. If I don’t get help from the best team in the country, I won’t make it three days! You need to bring the Richards Family’s medical team to the hospital right now, and my dad said—”

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Before she could finish, the line went dead.

“Xavier?” Katrina stared at the phone, baffled. Maybe the signal had dropped. “Xavier, are you there?”

Trying to keep her composure, she looked up at the nurse. “My boyfriend’s phone must have bad reception. Can I… can I try calling again?”
