His lips were cool, with the faint scent of sandalwood that always clung to him.
The warmth of her lips against his, the soft, yielding texture, sent a jolt through Gordon. His mind went blank, the world around them seeming to freeze.
His breath quickened.
A fire ignited somewhere deep inside him, a feeling he could barely control. A flush crept up his neck, spreading to the tips of his ears.
"Look away, look away," his assistant muttered, quickly closing his eyes. Then, as if remembering his other charge, he used a free hand to cover Monday's eyes. "Minors aren't allowed to watch!"
Monday: "..."
The kiss lasted only a few seconds.
A gentle, fleeting touch.
By the time Caitlin pulled away, Gordon was still dazed.
"Lost in thought?" Caitlin waved a hand in front of his face.
Gordon finally snapped out of it, though he couldn't quite meet her eyes. "Catie…"
"Are you blushing?" Caitlin asked, a playful glint in her eyes.
"No, of course not," Gordon said, clearing his throat with a cough to hide his nervousness. "Wh-what's there to be embarrassed about?"
Caitlin's smile widened. "If you're not embarrassed, why are you stuttering?"
She hadn't realized how innocent he could be.
A simple peck on the lips, and he was a nervous wreck.
Gordon took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. "Catie, you misheard me."
He wasn't stuttering.
This was nothing.
He could handle it.
"Is that so?" Caitlin took his hand. "But your face is bright red."
She reached up and touched his cheek. "And quite warm."
Gordon's Adam's apple bobbed. He cleared his throat again. "It's just hot out."
Caitlin laughed. "I never realized how stubborn you are. Is your mouth the toughest part of your body?"
"Of course not."
"Tsk, tsk," Caitlin teased. "See? Still being stubborn."
Much, much later, Mr. Sylvester would prove to Miss Kensington, with great enthusiasm, that his mouth was, in fact, not the toughest part of his body, and he would continue to prove it until she begged for mercy.
"You said you weren't coming back for another couple of days," Caitlin said, changing the subject.
Gordon had been on a business trip to Laurentia.
They hadn't seen each other in nearly two weeks.
"The project finished ahead of schedule." Gordon's voice was a little hoarse when he spoke again.
Though he tried to hide it, the rasp was still there.
He squeezed her hand. "Come on, let's walk the dog. After that, we can grab a late-night snack. My assistant told me about a new barbecue place on Westway Street that's supposed to be really good."
In the past, Gordon would never have bothered his assistant with such trivial matters.
But things were different now.
The moment he was free, Monday took off like a shot.
Caitlin and Gordon followed at a leisurely pace.
The night was beautiful.
The moonlight cast a silvery glow on them as they walked hand-in-hand. Gordon, using some cheesy pick-up lines he had recently learned, had Caitlin laughing constantly.
Suddenly, Gordon stopped and turned to look at her.
His gaze was intense, his deep eyes like whirlpools, drawing her in.
"What is it?" Caitlin asked, confused. She wiped her face. "Is there something on my face?"
"I… I…" Gordon began, "I wanted to ask you something."
"What is it?"
Gordon's lips parted. "I didn't quite get that last kiss. Can… can we do it again?"
It had been too fast.
He hadn't been ready.
He hadn't even had time to process it before she pulled away.
Caitlin chuckled. "Is that all?"
"Yes," Gordon nodded.
"Alright."
The word had barely left her lips before a hand cupped the back of her head, and his mouth was on hers. The kiss was fervent and urgent, a wild, passionate storm that left her breathless.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
