The truth was, Tammie's family had never been whole for as long as he could remember.
"From now on, I'll eat with you every day, Tammie," Ann said with a cheerful smile.
"Thank you, Ann," he replied, his eyes soft with gratitude.
She placed a piece of chicken on his plate. "You've gotten so thin lately. You need to eat more."
"You too," he replied, returning the gesture.
Ann took a bite, then asked casually, "So, what have you been so busy with?"
Forgetting Benedict's warning entirely, Tammie answered, "I'm working on a design draft."
"A design draft?" Ann knew all about his business ventures, including his jewelry company. "Is it for CL Jewels?"
"That's right."
"Aren't you guys about to go public soon?" she pressed. While his comics were popular, the bulk of his wealth came from the jewelry business.
