At the sound of the voice, everyone looked up.
A wave of disbelief washed over their faces.
This…This stunningly beautiful girl was actually Fortune Kensington's granddaughter?
Seeing Caitlin, Fortune's face lit up with pure joy. "Catie! Catie, is it really you?"
"Grandpa, I missed you."
Caitlin set down her bags and embraced him, her eyes welling with tears.
Fortune's colleagues watched the touching reunion, their gazes filled with envy. Not only was the girl gorgeous, but she was also incredibly thoughtful.
Seeing his granddaughter again stirred something indescribable in Fortune. He felt that she had changed somehow, though he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. It was like the sudden shift three years ago.
Back then, it was as if she had become a completely different person—her personality, her habits, everything had changed.
At the time, Fortune had chalked it up to teenage rebellion. That was why, even when everyone else called her an ungrateful brat, he had stood by her, never giving up on her.
Finally, a year ago, his patience had paid off, and he saw his granddaughter truly transform. Now, more and more, Fortune felt like he was seeing the girl she used to be. It was as if the granddaughter he knew before her turbulent teenage years had suddenly returned.
Fortune patted Caitlin's back, a warm smile on his face. "Catie, why didn't you tell me you were coming home? I would have picked you up from the airport!"
Tears shimmered in Caitlin's eyes, a lump forming in her throat. "I wanted to surprise you." She looked up at him. "Were you surprised?"
"Yes," Fortune nodded eagerly. "Of course, I was."
His gaze then fell on the man standing beside her, Stuart Gonzales. His eyes widened in disbelief. "Catie, is… is this… your father?"
Fortune had only ever seen Stuart lying motionless in a hospital bed; he had never seen him after his recovery. Seeing him standing right there, Fortune was so stunned he thought he was hallucinating.
"Mr. Kensington, it's a pleasure. I'm Stuart," Stuart said, taking a step forward.
Fortune, looking even more incredulous, took a deep breath and extended his hand to shake Stuart's. "Stuart… Let's go home. We'll talk at home."
"Of course, Mr. Kensington," Stuart nodded.
After a brief word with his colleagues, Fortune led the father and daughter home.
They arrived at the villa shortly after.
The moment they were inside, Stuart's knees buckled, and he knelt before Fortune. "Mr. Kensington, thank you for saving Catie's life all those years ago. If it weren't for you, there would be no Catie, and I wouldn't be here today. You are like a second father to me."
Fortune rushed to his side. "Caitlin's father, get up, please get up!"
"No, Mr. Kensington, I can't get up yet," Stuart insisted, remaining on the floor. "I have one more request."
