Before, Keeley had been deeply concerned about what would happen after he died. He worried about having no one to perform the proper funeral rites, fearing his soul wouldn't find peace.
That was why he had so eagerly divided up his nine million dollars settlement. He wanted to show his nephews his sincerity, hoping to trade it for their loyalty so they would care for him in his old age and see him off properly when the time came.
Only now did Keeley understand that sincerity wasn't always returned in kind. Even blood ties were no match for the test of human greed.
After everything that had happened, Keeley saw things clearly. When you're dead, you're dead. You either become a pile of ashes or a mound of dust. What was all this talk about the afterlife? Instead of worrying about such intangible things, it was better to live the life he had left.
So, he decided that rather than becoming a forgotten pile of dirt, he would donate his body and make a contribution to medical science.
Hearing Keeley's words, Trevor's eyes widened in disbelief. What was he saying? He was going to donate his body to a hospital?
Millard, Finn, Sloan, and the other brothers were equally stunned. They couldn't believe that Keeley no longer cared about the final rites—the very thing he used to value above all else.
"Uncle Keeley, you're just angry, right? You must be! We're your own nephews!" Sloan pleaded tearfully. "Just give us one more chance. We promise, we'll take good care of you this time."
Besides them, Keeley had no other children. It was one thing for him to refuse their care, but now he was going to donate his body? Who was he planning to leave his money to?
Nine million dollars! It was nine million dollars!
The thought of Keeley giving that fortune to someone else made Sloan's heart ache. That was supposed to be his!
The others chimed in, echoing Sloan's desperation. "Yes, yes, he's right, Uncle Keeley! If you give us another chance, we swear we'll treat you right!"
"Treat me right?" Keeley looked at the groveling men, his eyes filled with scorn. "I think you mean you want to treat my money right. Don't call me uncle. Money is your only family! From now on, I have nothing to do with you animals!"
With that, Keeley walked over to Caitlin and Fortune. "Catie, Kensington, let's go." There was no point wasting any more words on them.
Caitlin nodded. "Alright, let's go."
Keeley and Fortune followed her lead. As Keeley's figure receded, the four brothers panicked and scrambled after them, their voices choked with sobs. "Uncle Keeley! Uncle Keeley, we were wrong! We really know we were wrong! You're our family, please, give your nephews one more chance!"
"Uncle Keeley!!!"

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
