Lucy accompanied Mrs. Smith to the lounge area and opened her laptop. Sitting side by side, their eyes focused on the design schematics on the screen as they discussed the finer details in hushed tones.
Mrs. Smith was exceptionally pleased with Lucy's work. They had only provided a general description of their stylistic preferences and core concepts, yet Lucy had accurately translated those abstract ideas into a complete, tangible design. It was superior to any work Mrs. Smith had seen from previous designers.
"What I admire most is how you always capture exactly what I'm thinking," Mrs. Smith said, unable to hide her smile. She took a sip of her coffee and extended a warm invitation. "I'm hosting a gathering next Wednesday. Would you be free to come? I'd love to introduce you to a friend of mine. She owns a château she's planning to renovate, and I think you two could have a productive conversation."
"I'm certainly available. Thank you so much for the recognition," Lucy replied, a soft, genuine smile gracing her lips.
Mrs. Smith waved her hand dismissively. "You earned it. It was your talent and capability that impressed me."
Just then, the men finished their game and walked over.
Mrs. Smith turned to her husband, her tone filled with pride. "Honey, come take a look at Lucy's design. She's completely captured the feeling I wanted."
After receiving a nod of consent from Lucy, she turned the laptop screen toward Mr. Smith.
He leaned in to browse for a moment before offering sincere praise. "It really does perfectly present the effect you wanted. Lucy, your design is outstanding."
Peter glanced at the screen, his eyes lighting up. He spoke immediately. "This design is solid! Miss Lucy, let's exchange contact info. If I have any needs in the future, I'll definitely come to you."
"Sure," Lucy said, her eyes flicking up to his for a second before she tapped into WhatsApp.
Kingsley remained silent, merely shooting Peter a dark glance that clearly warned him to shut up. Peter shrugged sensibly and dropped the subject.
Mr. Smith raised a few questions about specific details in the blueprints, and Lucy answered them one by one with clarity, professionalism, and patience.
Watching her, Peter suddenly quipped, "Miss Lucy, I have a few successful single friends. Should I introduce you?"
Lucy looked up at him coolly. "Do I look like I'm desperate for a man?"
With that, she closed her laptop, slipped it into her bag, and nodded to the Smiths. "Mr. and Mrs. Smith, I've emailed the designs to you. If there are any changes needed, feel free to contact me. I have another engagement this evening, so I'll be taking my leave."
