His eyes darkened slightly, but he withdrew his gaze quickly.

The next day, Jane took Molly to the airport to see Lucy off.

Watching Lucy disappear through the security checkpoint, Molly looked up, her clear eyes full of reluctance. She pulled Jane's hand and asked, "Mommy, when will I see Godmother again?"

Jane bent down and kissed Molly's forehead, speaking gently, "When Mommy isn't busy, I'll take you."

Molly nodded, seeming to understand, and instructed like a little adult, "Then Mommy has to work hard, okay?"

Jane was amused by her daughter's manner and pinched her little cheek. "Mommy will definitely work hard. Now, let's go home. Shall we go find Grandma?"

"Grandpa!" Molly shouted the answer crisply.

"Grandpa is still at work right now," Jane corrected with a smile. "Let's meet Grandma first, okay?"

Molly nodded. "Okay!"

At the cemetery, the air was heavy and silent.

Kingsley looked solemn, holding a bouquet of white roses. Behind him, Shane carried a boxed cake.

Joyce stood nearby, her eyes red, a faint sorrow knit between her brows. She also clutched a bouquet of roses.

The three of them stopped in front of a tombstone. As soon as Joyce stood still, tears began to fall. Her voice choked up. "Mom, I've come to see you... with Kingsley."

Saying that, she stood up and bowed deeply three times before her father's grave, her voice soft but clear. "Dad, Mom, I'll come to see you again next time."

Kingsley didn't say much. He walked out of the cemetery with long strides, and Shane quickly followed.

Joyce, wearing high heels, walked slower and fell to the back.

Shane looked back and saw Joyce lagging a considerable distance behind. He hesitated before speaking, "Mr. Sherwood, Miss Mason is behind..."

"You wait for her." Kingsley didn't stop, his tone devoid of any ripple.

Shane cursed under his breath in frustration. "Damn this mouth!"

He even lightly slapped his own cheek, wincing in pain, before stopping resentfully to wait in place.
