The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 164

Ella barely knew what she was saying.

David glanced at the ice cream in her hand. Then his eyes flicked up to her face, with that innocent look she always had. His voice came out low and rough. “Want what?”

Ella’s mind was a total blank. She couldn’t even follow his question.

Her heart thudded wildly in her chest.

The tension between them was so thick it almost had its own gravity.

She decided enough was enough. “I’m going to sleep now. Goodnight.” Without waiting for a response, she reached out and ended the video call.

Lilly was getting ready for a shower when she caught sight of Ella’s flushed cheeks. “Ella, why’s your face so red?”

Ella touched her face, trying to play it off. “It’s just hot in here. Go shower, Lilly.”

“Okay,” Lilly said, disappearing into the bathroom.

Alone, Ella sat with her head down, quietly finishing her ice cream. The coolness helped her steady her nerves. What was she freaking out about, anyway?

This morning, she’d asked him on the phone if he wanted her to repay him, and he’d just hung up.

So cold. So full of himself.

But just now, he hadn’t acted like that at all.

Honestly, she’d hoped he would accept her offer so things could finally be even between them.

Ella finished writing out the herbal recipe and sent it to David in a message.

His contact was still saved as “Hubby,” even though that title felt more like a joke these days.

As usual, David didn’t reply.

She scrolled up and saw it was all her, message after message. Just her, talking to herself.

This chat history was basically a record of her awkward, one-sided marriage.

A sudden wave of mischief hit her. Ella picked up her phone, struck a quick pose, and snapped a selfie. She posted it to her social feed without a second thought.

Meanwhile, David sat in his office chair. He’d seen her message with the recipe but didn’t respond.

He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept replaying the image of Ella eating ice cream. The way her soft pink tongue flicked out, a hint of something off-limits.

She had even offered him her half-eaten ice cream, asking if he wanted some.

He wanted the post gone.

Ella had only been testing him.

He ignored her messages, but he was still watching what she did online.

Just as she suspected. It’s all for show.

She deleted the post. In reality, she’d set it so only he could see it. It was always meant for him.

Ella opened her chat with “Hubby” and typed out a new message.

[Want it?]

David stared at those two words. She was asking if he wanted her.

A daring challenge.

A burning invitation.

She wanted to see how far he’d go.
