The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 219

“After Mrs. Harmon went into the hospital room, I did what you asked. I found a girl who… fit your requirements and brought her over.”

That girl was Monica.

David’s face didn’t show a single emotion. “Got it.”

He walked into the bathroom and turned on the cold shower. Water poured down over his head. He kept his eyes closed, letting it wash over him, hoping it would somehow clear his mind. There were scratches down his back and a deep bite mark on his shoulder. He’d thought they were from Ella.

But they weren’t. Last night had just been a dream. A hot, desperate dream about him and Ella.

She never came. Instead, he’d slept with her friend.

David scrubbed at his skin, harder and harder, as if he could erase what happened. He wanted to wash away every mark, every memory.

Suddenly, he slammed his fist into the wall, the sound echoing in the tiled room.

...

Monica was already dressed and standing in the study, waiting for him. Soon, David walked in, looking sharp in a clean white shirt and black trousers. His face was a perfect mask of calm, distant and cold, just like always.

“Sir,” Aiden greeted softly.

David sat at his desk and looked at Monica. “Here’s a check. Take it and go.”

Aiden handed Monica the check. The number written there was staggering.

“Thank you, Mr. Harmon.”

David didn’t react. Aiden motioned toward the door. “Monica, this way.”

Their deal was done. There was no reason for them to see each other again. Aiden was already showing her out.

Monica glanced back one last time, longing in her eyes, then followed Aiden from the room.

Silence settled over the study. Then David’s phone rang, breaking the quiet. It was Rachel.

“Mr. Harmon,” her voice was anxious, “you left Jessa alone last night and something happened. She’s in the hospital. You need to come right now.”
