Lilly watched the rain pour down outside, sheets of water turning the street into a river. There was no way she could make it back to campus in this weather.

Victoria glanced over and said, “Lilly, it’s way too dangerous to go back right now. Just stay here tonight.”

Tiffany chimed in, “Yeah, Lilly, you should spend the night. You can share a room with Victoria.”

Tiffany had always liked Lilly, but as the adult in the house, she made sure to keep things proper. She would never let Lilly and Jace sleep anywhere near each other.

Lilly nodded, a little sheepish. “Victoria, looks like I’m crashing with you tonight.”

Victoria grinned and took Lilly’s arm. “Come on, I’ll show you the room.”

Inside, Victoria rummaged through her closet and handed Lilly a soft, brand-new nightgown. “Here, this one’s never been worn. It’s yours for tonight.”

Lilly hugged it to her chest. “Thanks, Victoria.”

“You should go shower first. I’ll wait for you.”

The house was small, just three bedrooms—one for Tiffany, one for Jace, and one for Victoria. The bathroom was shared between them all.

Clutching the nightgown, Lilly stepped into the hallway. “Okay, I’ll go wash up.”

Just as she closed the door behind her, she nearly bumped into Jace. She called out, “Jace, the rain’s crazy out there. I have to stay over tonight. Don’t worry, I promise I won’t be any trouble.”

Jace glanced at the downpour, then looked her over. “So, where are you sleeping?”

Lilly flashed him a mischievous wink. “With you, obviously.”

Jace froze, caught completely off guard. “Lilly!”

She laughed, her eyes dancing. “Come on, what did you expect? I’m sharing with Victoria. I’m going to shower, don’t worry.”

She slipped into the bathroom, leaving Jace standing there, flustered. He knew she was just teasing, but she really had no idea how dangerous it was to joke around with a guy like that.
