David started up the luxury car and pulled smoothly onto the road. His big, strong hands rested on the steering wheel, eyes fixed ahead as the corners of his lips curled into a knowing smile. “How am I supposed to know what you’re after? There are plenty of girls who want my genes, who want to have my kids. I just can’t trust you.”

Ella stared at him, lost for words.

Shivering, Ella hugged herself. She was pregnant now and really didn’t want to get sick, so she slipped on his black suit jacket. The jacket was so big it completely swamped her slim figure.

“Mr. Harmon, sure, your genes are good, but are you saying mine aren’t? Maybe other women would try to get your genes, but I’m definitely not one of them.”

About half an hour later, the Rolls-Royce pulled up outside Herbs Life Hospital. Ella looked up at the sign, surprised that he’d brought her here.

David lifted an eyebrow. “I know the hospital director here. I wouldn’t trust any other hospital. You’re Doctor E, after all. I can’t risk you faking the results.”

He really did have a way of thinking through everything. Nothing got past him.
