Quirin
I know how desperately you need your mate after something like what happened with Alpha Prick and Bitchtine happened to Henry. That’s why I asked Nicolette if she had a car. Thankfully, she does and she had the keys in case she needed to try and escape on her own. I gave those to Henry and got him out of here before he and Piper ripped each other’s clothes off in front of Prick’s pack.
Once I have Kennedy safely inside the van, looking over Nicolette, I turn back to the pack.
“Before I leave, which one of you is Gamma Nathan?”
“I’m Gamma Nathaniel. I’m Nathan’s father. What do you want with him?”
“Where is he?” I growl.
“He isn’t here,” he growls back.
“I didn’t ask where he wasn’t. I asked where he IS,” I snarl, stalking over to the man. If he thinks he can protect his son, he is mistaken.
“He was arrested, Alpha. The Council was here last night picking him up,” one of the pack members says.
“That’s a shame.””Why? What do you want with my son?” Nathaniel asks.
“He tried to purchase one of my pack members so he could force her into an unwanted mate bond. He’s very lucky the Council got to him before I did,” | growl, stepping into the Gamma’s space. “If I find out you had anything te do with that…”
“I didn’t,” he growls.
“Why can’t you just leave? Haven’t you done enough?”
Bitchtine screeches.
I almost grin when I hear the collective gasp from the pack members and most, if not all, take a step back.
I turn, glaring at her. Then I begin to stalk toward her. She cowers against Prick who looks like he’s trying to sit up.
But between the wounds in his neck from Piper’s claws that aren’t healing because of the rejection and the rejection itself, he’s weak
I grab the bitch by her throat, lifting her off the ground.
When Patrick tries to come after me, I shove him back down with my foot, then step on his throat to keep him there.
“You really are as dumb as you look, aren’t you? You just can’t keep your mouth shut,” I growl at Bitchtine.
I stare at her while she flails in my grasp, trying to scratch my hand enough that I’ll let go.
“Do you know, if my mate wouldn’t be upset with me, I’dsnap your neck right now. And don’t think Kennedy cares about you. She’s already told you she doesn’t. Büt she would care about the death of an innocent child, so you get to live. For now. But if you or your baby daddy comes after my family again, even my mate won’t be able to save you.”
It’s not true. I would never go against my mate if she told me I couldn’t kill someone. But Bitchtine doesn’t need to know that.
I drop her, letting her crumple to the ground. “You heard Alpha Piper. Your Alpha isn’t worthy of his title. Do yourselves a favor and challenge him for the position.
However, no matter who becomes the next Alpha, my warning still stands. Come after my family and you will die. The best you could hope for is a quick, easy death.”
I turn my back on the pack, letting Raif stay forward to tell me if anyone thinks they can attack me from behind. Then I get in the truck, and after checking to make sure Kennedy is ready, we begin the long drive back to Henry’s pack.
While Kennedy murmurs to Nicolette, putting an IV into her arm and adding whatever she does to keep people alive, I look at Philip.
“Hey, Alpha Philip. Do you want to come up here and sit with me?” I ask him.
He looks at his mother, his eyes wide with fear.”Hey, come sit with me. My mate will take of your mother,” I say gently. I haven’t always been able to speak gently, but between my mate and my pups, l’ve learned.
I feel waves of love flowing through the mate bond and even though my mate doesn’t look away from what she’s doing, she’s paying attention and she’s glad I’m trying to help this pup.
When he still doesn’t move, I reach a hand back to him. He finally takes it and I help him move up to the front seat, pulling the seat belt across his body.
“Do you want to know a secret?” I ask, conspiratorially.
He nods.
“My mate and her mother have a motto. No one dies in their hospital.”
“We’re not in a hospital,” he says.
“True, but that doesn’t matter. Once my mate or her mother begins helping someone, they never die. Never. I know this for a fact because I almost died when I was younger, and Kennedy’s mother saved me.”
This time I feel a wave of possessiveness, a feeling of Kennedy and Echo holding on to me and Raif like she’ll never let us go. I purr in my mind, letting her know that I’m not going anywhere.
“So, my mom’s not going to die?” he asks.”Nope. I can promise you that. She may be weak and she may need to be in Alpha Henry’s pack hospital for a while, but she won’t die.”
He begins fighting the sobs of fear that he’s been holding in. Rather than try to console him in his seat, I unhook his seat belt and pull him into my tap, holding him against me while he begins to sob.
Raif begins purring at him, helping to calm him, while I drive.
