“Isn’t that Ramona?”
Brianna’s sharp eyes instantly caught sight of Ramona across the parking lot.
A flicker of nerves passed over her as she glanced at Jotham.
Why did it seem like every time they were out together in public, they’d somehow run into Ramona? Was she secretly following them?
She claimed she and Jotham were done, but she kept hounding him over the company shares, never letting go…
What a manipulative fake angel.
Jotham looked up, and the moment he saw Ramona, he instinctively put a little distance between himself and Brianna.
“I’ll go talk to her. You get in the car first,” he said hastily, already striding toward Ramona before Brianna had a chance to react.
Ramona hadn’t noticed the two of them in the corner. Her bodyguard had just loaded something into her car, then left. She slid into the driver’s seat and was about to close the door when a firm hand pulled it open again.
The man wore a Patek Philippe watch and, more glaringly, his wedding ring, a sight that never failed to sting.
“Ramona! There you are, finally!” Jotham’s voice was urgent, breathless as he wedged himself between her and the car door, blocking her escape.
He’d come over seething with anger, but seeing her now, most of that fury melted away. She was just as stunning as the first time he’d seen her back in college—maybe even more so.
Her long hair was styled simply, two diamond barrettes tucked above her temples, the soft waves cascading over her shoulders and perfumed with something expensive and intoxicating. Her outfit was elegant as always—an understated, ombré cream dress that hinted at luxury without flaunting any logos. The only jewelry she wore were pearl earrings and a delicate diamond pendant.
Except, on her hand was an enormous engagement ring, and a matching couple’s bracelet.
That sight set Jotham off. He grabbed her wrist, glaring. “What’s with this ring? Where’s our wedding band? Are you seriously seeing someone else?”
No matter what, he never would’ve believed Ramona would cheat on him, unless he saw it with his own eyes.
“Don’t touch me!” Ramona hadn’t expected to run into Jotham and a flash of surprise crossed her face. She tried to wrench her arm free, but he was too strong. So she yanked the car door hard, catching his arm between the frame.
“Ah—!” Jotham yelped, instantly letting go as pain shot up his arm.
Ramona knew it was pointless to get tangled up with him alone. She slammed the door and started the engine, desperate to get away.
