The Paper Wife’s Empire novel Chapter 270

Gallop Inc. was planning to open a branch in Havencrest City, though the specific project had yet to be determined.

Brianna had initially intended to ask her parents to help her secure the opportunity, but then she ran into Brantley. He already had a good impression of her, and as a man who valued talent, he was deeply impressed by the brilliant research data in her thesis. The fact that her parents were also senior employees at the company sealed the deal. He immediately decided to back her project. Brianna had come to Kyro City to handle the preliminary preparations for the new branch.

“Mr. Lawson, you were looking for me?” Brianna asked respectfully as she entered the office.

“Yes,” Brantley nodded, sliding a plane ticket and a file across the desk toward her. He tapped a finger on the gold-embossed invitation. “Get your things ready. We’re flying to Havencrest City tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” Brianna’s eyes fell on the invitation to the Future Industries International Investment Summit. She quickly scanned the list of attendees: national industry funds, renowned international investment banks, and giants from the energy and pharmaceutical sectors were all listed. So was Havencrest City’s most famous company, Covington Group.

Her gaze lingered on the Covington Group’s name. The Holt family had been so close to securing their investment.

“That’s right. A few of my friends will be there. Bring your project proposal—the one with all the key data. I think they’ll be interested. You could make some very valuable connections,” Brantley explained. He was clearly paving the way for her; otherwise, he could have just sent her to the summit alone.

Brianna’s eyes lit up, unable to hide her excitement. “Of course, I’ll get everything ready right away. Thank you, Mr. Lawson!”

Seeing her so thrilled, a faint smile touched Brantley’s lips. “Can you have everything prepared by the end of the workday?”

Brianna paused, unsure of his meaning. “Yes, I can.”

“I’ve been swamped the last couple of days and haven’t had a chance to welcome you properly. I was thinking we could go for a casual dinner at a nearby restaurant. You should invite your parents, too. A small family gathering.”

“Oh, Mr. Lawson, you’re too kind.”

“It’s no trouble. I’ll speak to your parents myself. You’re all family, after all. Now that you’re back, surely any past issues can be resolved.”

Brantley’s words made Brianna blush slightly. It sounded like he knew about the friction between her and her parents.

“You know about… my family situation?”

“One step at a time,” he thought.

...

The next afternoon, at the Havencrest City International Conference Center, the grand hotel lobby was a dazzling display of wealth and influence. The air was filled with a subtle, pleasant fragrance, and the polished marble floors reflected the elegant figures of the city’s elite.

Eulalia and Flynn had arrived early, positioning themselves near the entrance to the check-in area, scanning the crowd. Winnie and Liliane hadn’t arrived yet, so they used the time to try and hand out business cards. But most of the guests were flanked by assistants and bodyguards, making them impossible to approach.

The few who were alone took one look at the Holt Group name on the card and, while saying nothing, their expressions would instantly turn cold. The moment Eulalia turned her back after one such attempt, the man dropped her card to the floor.

Flynn stepped forward, his shoe landing squarely on it. He bent down, collected the discarded cards, and handed them back to her, a flush of humiliation creeping up his neck.

“Can’t you wait until we’re inside? This is mortifying.”
