The Sickened Luna's Last Chance novel Chapter 348

Ella’s Perspective

My eyes widened in disbelief as I stared at the photographs Lilith had taken. Each image seemed to hold a secret, a glimpse into something extraordinary. Alongside them were several journal entries, all chronicling a daring quest for mysterious artifacts. These objects, it seemed, possessed a unique power—an energy amplified by their connection to both Lilith and me. There was even a roughly sketched map, marked boldly with a crimson “X,” pinpointing the very location where these artifacts were said to be hidden.

The weight of this discovery hit me like a tidal wave. This wasn’t just some trivial find; it was the kind of revelation that had the potential to alter everything. My heart fluttered with a renewed sense of hope, a spark igniting deep within me. Perhaps the artifacts truly existed after all. And better yet, we might actually know where to find them.

But just as that hope blossomed, a cold reminder settled in my chest—Lilith and I were not alone in the room.

Alexander sat there, silent but alert. He had overheard every word. When our eyes met his, I saw the storm brewing behind his emerald gaze—anger mixed with confusion, a dangerous combination. His face was shadowed, his expression tight and unreadable.

“What artifacts?” he demanded, his voice low and edged with menace.

“Oh, uh… it’s just a silly inside joke between us,” my mother quickly replied, forcing a smile that didn’t reach her eyes as she slipped her phone back into her pocket. “I was only talking about—”

“Don’t lie to me.” Alexander rose to his full height, his presence suddenly overwhelming the cramped hospital room. Normally, he was tall, but now he seemed like a looming tempest, ready to unleash at any moment. “After all these years working for me, Lilith, I expected better than childish deceit.”

Lilith glanced at me, uncertainty flickering across her face. My mind raced, trying to find a way out of this tightening noose. I knew Alexander wouldn’t back down; he was far too suspicious now, too determined to uncover the truth.

What he didn’t realize, though, was that the very truth he sought might be the one thing capable of destroying him—just as it was slowly consuming Liam.

I rose slowly, my hands trembling as I smoothed the fabric of my pants. “It’s… complicated,” I confessed, my voice barely steady. “I’ve told you before—there’s so much I want you to understand, but you just can’t.”

“I want the truth. Now,” Alexander pressed, stepping closer. His eyes flicked between Lilith and me, suspicion thick in the air. “You’re both hiding something. And using my friend’s sickness as a shield? That’s disgusting.”

My shoulders sagged under the weight of his accusation. If only he understood. If only he knew this wasn’t an excuse.

“Alpha, it’s not that simple,” Lilith spoke softly, her voice steady but pleading. “If you’d just give us time, we could explain—”

“No.” Alexander’s voice cut through the room like a whip. “I’m done with these games. Either you tell me what’s really going on right now, or you’re both banished. For good.”

Lilith and I exchanged cautious glances. Banishment was no empty threat. To be cast out by the Alpha King meant exile from every pack, a life condemned to roam the forests alone until death claimed us. The weight of his ultimatum pressed down on us, cold and absolute.
