Chapter 125
His brother and mother were already settled in…
The silence of the night wrapped around them as their body and brain try to process everything that has happened… Their new reality.
Alex sat on the edge of his bed, staring out the window.
His mind wasn’t still. It hadn’t been still in years. But tonight felt different. Not peaceful, no. But final. A shift. The beginning of the end.
His plan was already in motion.
For the past two years, Alex had been preparing. Quietly. Carefully. He built contacts, funneled investments through silent partners, created alternate identities-new names, new records, every thing to disassociate them from Charles Blackwell.
– It was survival. He had always known this day would come.
He was done with his father. Done with the fear. The control. The violence.
Done with watching his mother cry in silence, done with watching his brother suffer in silence.
Done with seeing new bruises on his brother because he didn’t act right. Done with his brother not getting the help he needs because his father doesn’t want his name to be tarnished.
Because apparently your son going for rehab to get the help he needs was the highest crime against the Blackwell name.
His mother and brother were safe under his roof now, and he was determined to take them far away from the claws of the man who ruled over all their lives like a god.
Somewhere they could breathe and start over.
And God, how he hoped Mia would come with him. He will give anything for that to happen.
Mia doesn’t know yet. Doesn’t know he has been planning to leave Willowcrest.
At first he just wanted to send his brother and mother far away but then again what will he be doing here when his brother and mother ain’t here anymore, when Mia leaves for school.
It’s time to tell her everything, so they can plan their future around it.
He wonders how her day went. Mia doesn’t even know how his is going
But she would. Tomorrow.
He’d already spoken to her on the phone a few hours ago…just a quick check-in.
She sounded tired but sweet, the way she always did after work. He wanted to see her, hold her, just be in her space, but he knew he needed the night to settle things at home.
Tonight was for his family.
He reached for his phone and dialed the encrypted number of the handler who was arranging their relocation. When the man picked up, Alex didn’t bother with pleasantries.

Chapter 125
“Speed it up. We need everything finalized in days, not weeks.”
“Understood, sir.”
Alex hung up.
He exhaled deeply and stood, rubbing the back of his neck as he stepped out of his room. The hallway was kind of dark, but he could still find his way around.
He padded down the hall in silence until he reached the guest room at the end-the one his mother had chosen.
He knocked gently.
“Come in,” her voice called, soft and tired.
He opened the door slowly.
His mother was inside, unpacking her things, placing a few framed photos on the dresser, trying to make the room feel less temporary. She turned when she saw him, her expression calm but curious.
“Are you okay?” he asked her, stepping in.
She nodded. “I am, Alexander. Tired. But okay.”
He hummed in response, walking farther into the room.
There was a pause, then he said, “We’re starting over in another country soon, Mom. Somewhere far. New surname. New lives.”
His mother stares at him for a second, then she stepped forward and took his hand gently in hers. Her grip was warm and steady.
“I’m so proud of you, son,” she whispered. “For always protecting me and your brother. You took on so much when you were just a boy. You never complained, never asked why. You just carried us.”
Alex looked down at their hands, his throat tightening.
“I’m sorry,” she added. “I’m sorry I didn’t protect you more. I should’ve gotten us out sooner. I should’ve-”
“It’s nothing, Mom,” he cut in gently. “You did your best. And now we’re getting out. That’s what matters.”
Tears shine in her eyes, but she blinked them away. Her voice was low, barely a whisper.
“Thank you. For loving us so much. For being everything your father never was.”
Alex gave a small smile, the kind that held back years of pain.
He reached out and kissed the top of her head. “Get some sleep Mom.”
“Goodnight, Alexander.”
He paused at the door. “Goodnight, Mom.”
He stepped out, pulling the door closed behind him, and stood there for a moment.
Feeling at peace.

Chapter 125
He walked back down the hall, passing his brother’s room, hearing faint music playing from inside. It made him smile.
They were safe. They were together. And soon, they would be free.
All that was left now… was Mia.
Tomorrow, he will tell her everything.
But first he needs to talk to his baby before going to sleep.
He lay flat on his bed, his arm resting on his forehead as his thoughts run through everything that had unfolded in a single day.
His chest rose and fell in a slow rhythm, but his mind was anything but calm.
Mia
He reached out for his phone.
He didn’t even need to scroll through his contacts…Mia’s name was already at the top. His thumb hesitated for half a second before pressing the call button.
She picked up after the fourth ring.
“Hey baby,” he said, his voice low, soft. Almost like a sigh.
“Hey,” Mia responded, her voice sweet but tinged with exhaustion.
“About to sleep?” Alex asked, pulling the blanket up to his waist and propping the phone between his shoulder and ear.
“Yeah,” she breathed out. “Today was tiring. I kept checking the admission website. The school site started releasing names today.”
Alex froze for a moment. His heart, which had just begun to steady, kicked up again.
