The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 127

Chapter 127

Mia didn’t know how long they had been inside the van.

Time felt like a blur of darkness. The only sound was their ragged breathing, the muffled sobs of her mother, the stifled cries of her sisters. Even Ethan had gone quiet now, his earlier shouting reduced to nothing but broken whispers.

At some point, the fear dulled into numbness. They had all screamed and banged the doors until their voices cracked and their hands ached.

But no one had come.

The vehicle was tinted so dark it was impossible to see anything beyond the thick glass, not even a flicker of streetlights or the passing blur of buildings.

Mia sat pressed between Lily and her mother, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees.

Her thoughts kept running back to Alex, the thought of never seeing him again hurt more than anything.

Her stomach twisted painfully. What if this was it? What if she never saw him again?

Suddenly; the van jerked to a stop.

The stillness that followèd made her blood run cold..

Everyone seemed to hold their breath.

Then, all at once, they found their voices again….screaming, banging on the van, clawing at the doors with the little strength they had left.

The doors swung open with a sound that made them all flinch.

Two men stood there, their faces hidden by black masks. One of them pointed a gun at them.

“Out,” the man barked.

No one moved. They froze, like a pack of rabbits caught in the beam of headlights.

“I said out!”

The men surged forward, dragging them one by one. Mia screamed as rough hands pulled her by the arm, yanking her out of the van.

The smell of salt hit her immediately. Her heart dropped when she looked around.

They were by the water.

Docked ships stood ahead, shadows moving around them. Cranes lifting cargo in the distance, the sound of crates and chains echoing. It was a shipping port.

A waterfront.

A place where people could disappear without a trace.

Her knees buckled but the man behind her shoved her forward, pressing the barrel of the gun to the back of her head.

“Move.”

Mia’s legs shook with every step. She could barely feel her feet against the gravel beneath her.

She risked a glance behind her, her mother stumbled with her hands raised, Lily was crying, and Ethan was limping, his mouth stained with blood. Even Ann looked pale, her defiance stripped away by the fear in her eyes.

They were led into what looked like a warehouse, a large structure with peeling paint. Inside, it was hollow and cold. Empty. No crates. No goods. Just an empty void that smelled of oil and seawater.

The door clanged shut behind them.

“Sit.”

The command was simple. Cold.

They obeyed.

They huddled together on the cold concrete floor, holding each other tightly as if proximity alone could keep them safe.

Mia held Lily’s hand, her fingers trembling. Her mother’s arms wrapped around Ann, who looked more like a terrified child than the sharp-tongued girl she always pretended to be.

The men stood near the entrance, guns slung casually in their hands, watching. Waiting.

For what, Mia,had no idea.

Her lips trembled as she whispered, “Why are they doing this?”

No one answered.

Tears slipped down her cheeks, silent and salty. She was tired of being strong.

In this moment, all she could do was pray. Pray that someone would find them. Pray that Alex would come.

But how?

What if this was really how it ended?

The air felt heavy.

They weren’t tied up, but they didn’t dare move. The guns were enough. The threat of sudden death hung over them.

Minutes passed.

Or was it hours?

Suddenly, Mia felt Lily’s hand tighten around hers. She looked up. One of the men was on his phone, talking in a low voice. She couldn’t hear much, but she caught one word.

“Boss.”

Her heart dropped.

This wasn’t random. This wasn’t some robbery or accident.

Someone sent these men. Someone planned this.

And whoever that person was, they had power.

A tear slipped down her face as she lowered her head onto her knees, holding on to her sister like a lifeline.

Was this really how it ends?

She didn’t want to die. Not here. Not like this.

God, please. Let someone find us.

The air in the warehouse felt heavier with every passing second.

Mia held her arms tightly around herself, her knees pulled up to her chest. She kept looking at the black shiny guns held so carelessly by the men guarding them.

It was real. It could take any of their lives in an instant. This wasn’t a nightmare. It wasn’t something she could wake up from.

“I can’t believe I’m about to die like this,” Lily whispered, voice raw from crying. “Who did you fucking offend this time?” She says looking at Ethan

No one answered.

Ethan was now sitting a little apart from them, his back against the cold wall, eyes vacant but red.

Red from tears, from exhaustion, from guilt? Mia didn’t know. She wanted to believe Ethan didn’t know anything. She wanted to believe none of this was his fault.

Lily didn’t.

“Who?” she shouted now, broken and hysterical. “We ran away from home because of the last one! And now we’re about to die. So who did you fucking offend, Ethan? Whose child did you make overdose this time?”

“Shut up, Lily! This could be because of you” Ethan snapped, his voice low but sharp like glass.

Lily stared at him, lips trembling, caught off guard. “What?”
