The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

From the underground ring, Alex took her to the club-the same one he always goes to after his Fridays fights.

It was late. The streets buzzed with energy, the kind that came alive only at night.

Mia sat quietly in the passenger seat of Alex’s car, her fingers loosely intertwined with his. She didn’t say much, but her heart was doing backflips.

It had taken her almost an hour to calm down from the whole Charles Blackwell thing.

Alex looked over at her at a red light, his thumb gently brushing the back of her hand. “You good?” he asked, his voice soft, low.

Mia nodded. “Yeah.”

But the truth was, she was nervous.

The last time she was at that club with Alex, she was treated like trash and Alex watched it happen.

She was humiliated.

This time it will be different, right?

She glanced at Alex.

Alex winks at her, she smiles.

This time it will be different.

When they arrived, the valet didn’t even ask for a name.

Alex handed over the keys and guided her in like he owned the place-because, in a way, he did. People stepped aside as they walked through. Heads turned. Whispers followed. Some smiled. Some stared.

And then came the looks from his friends.

Mia noticed it immediately-the quiet confusion, the surprise, the unspoken questions in their eyes.

Alex’s friends kept looking at her strangely. She wasn’t stupid. She knew exactly what they were thinking. What’s a Turner girl doing with Alex Blackwell?

Alex didn’t seem to care. His hand stayed firmly wrapped around hers as they climbed the stairs to the VIP section. His grip wasn’t tight, but it was reassuring. Protective. Mia held on to it like a lifeline.

Heading into the VIP area was easy-too easy. No one questioned them, no one stopped them. But the moment they stepped in, the air changed.

It felt heavy with judgment.

Mia kept her chin up, but her heart pounded hard. The lights, the music, the smoke-it all felt the same as the last time. But this time things are different.

Then she saw her.

Zoe.

Chapter 99

Sitting pretty in the far corner, a drink in hand, laughing too hard at something some guy was saying. Zoe’s eyes met Mia’s for a split second before she looked away like she hadn’t seen her at all.

Mia’s steps faltered.

Alex felt it right away. He slowed down, turned his head, leaned into her ear and whispered, “It’s okay. I’m here.”

His voice was so steady, so sure. It was like an anchor pulling her back to safety.

Mia nodded and followed him to their seat. They sat in the middle of everyone, yet Alex acted like it was just the two of them in the whole club.

He pulled her close, placed his hand on her thigh, and didn’t let go. His friends stared, whispered, but no one said a word out loud.

Everyone in the VIP section noticed.

Everyone saw the way he held her hand like it was the most normal thing in the world. Like Mia Turner, from the other side of town, belonged in his world.

Mia’s heart ached with a strange mix of pride and fear. She’d never had someone stand so solidly beside her, like Alex did. It scared her how much she liked it.

Eventually, the music got louder, the lights got dimmer, and people got too high to care about who was with who. The tension in the room faded, softened by alcohol and smoke and laughter.

Mia finally allowed herself to breathe.

She even laughed.

She sat on the edge of her seat, danced a little in her chair, swayed to the beat, careful not to stand up. She didn’t feel ready for that yet. But she was trying.

Alex noticed. He always noticed. He leaned in, brushing his lips against her neck, then her jaw. His kisses weren’t hungry- they were slow, soft, like he was savoring every second. Mia melted into them.

He kissed her lips next, tugging her closer. There was no shame in him, no hesitation. He didn’t care who was watching.

And the truth was, Mia didn’t either. Not in that moment.

There was one thing Mia had always found curious about Alex-he didn’t touch drugs. Not even when they were all around him.

She’d noticed it the more time they spent together. He was a light drinker, maybe a glass or two, but he never touched anything else. Not even the things his friends passed around so casually, like it was candy.

She used to think differently, back when she only knew him from afar. When all she saw was the cage, the fights, the parties, the rudeness and wickedness, the people he surrounded himself with. His world seemed messy, dangerous.

And it was.

His friends still dealt with drugs-some more heavily than others.

She can’t help but wonder if Alex not touching drugs has to do with what happened to his brother.

Julian Blackwell.

A name whispered like a curse in quiet corners.

Julian was addicted, a bad kind of addiction.
