THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA (IRIS and DRACO) novel Chapter 12

IRIS.

“Alpha…” I gave him a small smile when I opened the door and found him outside.

He had changed into a linen shirt and pants. His hair was wet, so he probably just finished his shower. Overall, he looked fresh and far from the formal Alpha Draco I had met today.

“I said I would help you with the ointment. So I came back.” He said.

“It’s okay, Alpha. I was able to do it.”

“How?” His forehead creased before his eyes darted to the dresser where the ointment lay, and beside it was a toothbrush. “With a toothbrush?”

I bit my bottom lip and nodded.

“You brushed your wound with a bristle?” His eyebrows hiked up. “Were you able to apply it to all?”

I shook my head. He pushed the door open and welcomed himself in, so I had no choice but to close it before following him. He went to the dresser while I sat at the end of my bed.

In no time, he was already in front of me. “Take off your top.”

And like earlier, I just did what I was asked without any complaint. I removed my pajama top and clutched it against my chest to cover my breasts. I was glad he didn’t ask me to stop covering myself.

He crouched in front of me and guided my body to turn halfway. So I ended up half-seated on the bed where he could see my back.

He didn’t say anything and just began massaging the ointment on my wounds. I flinched from time to time because of the pain, but overall, I felt good. The touch of his fingers on my skin felt like he was caressing me.

“Next time, don’t use a toothbrush. You will irritate or infect your wounds.” He said.

I nodded but didn’t say anything.

“But you should be okay in a day or two. This herbal ointment is effective.” He added.

“Thank you,” I mumbled.

I thought he was done when he held my elbow and guided me to move and face him again. He remained in a crouched position, head tilted up to look at me. “You need to apply it one more time tomorrow. I can come here and help you.”

“Alpha, I don’t want to take so much of your time.”

“You already did, Iris. So either I help you or I ask someone to help you. Your choice. Me or them.”

I bit my bottom lip. I couldn’t deny it. Regardless of the reason he wanted to help me, his gesture made my heart flutter again. I wanted to smile, but I didn’t want him to take it negatively, so I kept a poker face. “You, Alpha.”

“Good choice…” He said hoarsely before a smirk formed on his mouth, and he lowered his eyes. “You have something here, too.”

I held my breath as his fingers skimmed on my side, above my waist, where I knew I had a gash. He adjusted his position so he was directly in front of me, still crouching. He was tall, so our heads were almost parallel to each other.
