was mutual.
Chapter 611 Three Steps Ahead
Drew froze for half a beat, caught off guard, then straightened up like nothing had happened. Sage’s gaze shifted past him to the two unfamiliar men standing nearby. His voice came out smooth, almost casual. “Drew, take them out.”
The command was barely out before Drew moved–quick, clean, silent. Two quick steps, two sharp twists–necks snapped before either man even knew what hit them. They hit the ground before they even realized they were dead.
“Take their gear,” Sage said, not missing a beat. “You and him–suit up. We’re walking out together.”
Theresa’s stomach turned for a second, though she tried not to show it. Every time she thought she’d seen the full extent of his ruthlessness, he somehow managed to raise the bar. Then Sage looked her over again. “You’ve got a scarf, right?”
She frowned. “Why?” He gestured to his neck, the bruises already showing. “You nearly throttled me. You really think I can stroll past security like this?” She just gave him a long look, speechless.
Five minutes later, Theresa and Quentin reappeared in the uniforms of the Production Company, with counterfeit B–level badges clipped to their collars. Silently, they followed Sage up toward the upper floors, blending seamlessly into the chaos above.
Meanwhile, the Divine Institute had erupted into pandemonium. Two unconscious inspectors had just been discovered, sprawled like discarded mannequins.Within minutes, the surveillance team was tearing through security footage in desperation.
That’s when they saw it–unauthorized movement inside the institute. Unknown figures slipping through blind spots, vanishing down hallways. The trail led them straight to the third- floor restroom.
But when the response team burst in, the place was empty. There were no intruders nor casualties at all. It was as though the entire scene had been wiped clean from existence.
What they didn’t know was that Sage had already erased every trace. Everyone who stood in their way had been silenced, and Drew had quietly sealed the corpses inside his domain- leaving behind a spotless crime scene and a mystery no camera could ever explain.
“What’s the holdup here?” Sage asked, his tone casual yet edged with impatience. A scarf was now draped neatly around his neck—an unremarkable touch in the chilly November air that made him look perfectly ordinary. “I asked for something specific. Where is it?”
“Security breach,” the administrator replied stiffly. “Someone broke into the Divine Institute, and we’re running a full sweep.”

Sage’s brows knit together. “And how long do you expect that to take? I don’t have the luxury of waiting around. I’ve got deadlines to meet.”
“You can return for now,” the man said after a pause, his expression heavy. “Once we recover the batch, we’ll contact your team immediately.”
“See that you do,” Sage shot back. “Every hour lost is holding up mass production. I don’t want this delay setting us back.”
“Understood,” the administrator answered, his tone subdued as Sage turned to leave. The Starborn Order operated like a rigid chain of command–authority trickled down, and those lower on the ladder never questioned those above.
Within that system, the Divine Institute held no power to detain personnel from the Production Company. Sage didn’t hesitate; he led his trio of men out, calm and unhurried.
But the moment they left the premises, a deafening explosion tore through the facility behind them. What had started as a simple internal investigation over missing cargo turned into a full- blown disaster. Those combing through clues were engulfed by fire and chaos.
From the helicopter, Theresa watched Sage’s face go hard when the alert came through. Her heart skipped–someone had just detonated a bomb in the Divine Institute. He turned toward her, voice even but sharp. “That bomb–was it your doing?”
She let out a derisive chuckle. “They broke their word,” she said icily. “They swore they’d release Aunt Tania in exchange. The moment they went back on their word, I made up my mind—as long as she’s held there, I’m dragging them down with me.”
Sage’s expression shifted into something hard to read—an odd mix of surprise and something else. “Your aunt means that much to you?” he asked, voice low.
She snapped upright. “If she’s missing or harmed, I’ll come after you. I swear I will.”
He didn’t flare up. He stayed quiet, then carried her back toward the Production Company without another word.
When word of the blast hit the headquarters of Starborn Order, the top brass were rattled for a heartbeat–and then their faces tightened. They immediately had a suspect in mind. After all, Theresa had already made her warning loud and clear.
The incident was monumental–enough to shake anyone. Yet the Starborn Order remained eerily still. No retaliation. No investigation. No message. It was as if the Starborn Order had collectively decided she didn’t exist.
But Theresa knew better than to take silence at face value. Their quiet wasn’t ignorance—it was strategy. They had caught on to how deeply she valued Tania, and her fearless defiance had
