Chapter 618 Conflict
“What are you standing around for? Get to work this instant!”
Theresa froze in place.

Her eyes lifted, startled, to the platform where the Workshop 2 manager glared down at her, his stare blazing with fury.
The weight of his power pressed against her.
He was a mental manipulation ability user.
Level 5.
Her disguise had been too perfect. The uniform was identical to the rest. Her expression had given away nothing. He thought she was one of his guards.
He saw her idle and lashed out without
pause.
Now that she knew what he was, Theresa dropped her boldness. She could not act as freely as she had inside Workshop 1.
She lowered her head, straightened her back, and slid in with the other guards who dragged workers forward like cattle.
She became invisible, one more shadow in the crowd.
The manager’s fury cooled when he saw obedience. His attention snapped to the line of team leaders and supervisors who stood trembling in rows.
“How do you people even work? The moment I stop breathing down your necks, you slack off. This disgrace of a product is what you let out? A0421, step forward now!”
His roar cracked through the air like a whip. He yanked a parachute pack from a crate and hurled it to the ground with a heavy thud.
“This came from your line. Did you even test it?”
“Sir, we we tested it. It passed inspection!” The team leader stammered, his voice trembling.
The manager’s eyes turned to ice. His hand slashed the air. “Strap him to the helicopter. Make him jump. Let him prove it works.”
“Sir, I beg you—”

No one dared resist. Engines thundered. A helicopter rose above the yard, the wind from its blades whipping across the ground. Guards shoved the panicked man inside.
Theresa’s mouth parted, her breath caught in her throat as she watched.
The machine climbed into the clouds. Then a boot sent the man screaming into open air.
His cries echoed. His arms flailed. His hands clawed at the straps. The parachute refused to open. The quality was a disgrace. He plummeted like a stone, his voice shrill as the ground rushed closer.
Then came the crack of impact, distant but sharp, the sound rattling through the crowd.
The silence that followed was crushing.
No one needed proof. He was gone.
“This is what happens when you ignore safety!” Hawk bellowed, his face locked in wrath.
“Upper management warned me this batch had defects. Now you see with your own eyes. This is the trash you delivered!”
The workers shrank back under his roar. Their faces drained pale.
“I do not tolerate laziness. I do not forgive carelessness. From this day forward, every parachute will be tested by the line leaders themselves!”
The supervisors shook so hard their legs almost buckled.
Theresa’s eyes widened with shock.
For one moment, she believed he might value lives. She believed he cared about safety.
But then his voice struck again, sharp as a blade. “I will not hear one more complaint from above. If I receive one more report of defects, every one of you will die. My name is Kobe Hawk. I will never let anyone stain it.”
The faint respect Theresa had felt shattered.
He did not care about human lives. He cared only for his numbers, his record, his reputation.
His cruelty was not for protection. It was for pride. He only cared about his boss‘ orders.
He was nothing but a tool, a cold machine made for those above him.
