The Undead and Unstoppable Apocalyptic Queen novel Chapter 698

**TITLE: Kept Woman 698**
**Chapter 698: Go With Them**

Professor K had made the decision to leave, not because he wanted to, but because he feared that the longer he stayed, the harder it would be to walk away. He had an unsettling feeling in his chest, a mix of sorrow and resolve that he couldn’t quite name.

He was alone in the world.

The only being he had ever truly connected with was a dog, a loyal companion he had nurtured for the past four or five years.

Born into a lineage of scientists, Professor K’s life had been shaped by the legacy of his parents, both of whom were early members of the Starborn Order. Their untimely deaths had left a void, but it had also fueled his relentless pursuit of knowledge. From a young age, he had immersed himself in research, finding solace in the pursuit of discovery rather than in familial bonds.

For decades, he buried himself in his work, never once contemplating marriage or the joys of parenthood. When the apocalypse struck, he chose to remain at Firestone, embracing the role of caretaker amidst the chaos. It was during one fateful day that he stumbled upon a puppy, on the brink of being devoured by a horde of zombies.

The sight was harrowing—the pup’s mother had been torn apart, leaving the little one alone, trembling, and utterly defenseless in a sea of ravenous undead.

Professor K couldn’t just stand by; he had to act.

He scooped the tiny creature into his arms, nurturing it from a mere milk-drinking infant to a robust, playful dog. He fed it meticulously, bottle by bottle, then transitioned to bowls as it grew. Watching it flourish had brought a flicker of warmth to his otherwise cold existence.

Now, as they prepared to leave, the pup was strapped into the helicopter, barking furiously as if sensing the gravity of their situation.

Professor K, maneuvering his wheelchair, heard that desperate bark pierce through the air, and an unfamiliar ache settled in his heart. The once unyielding resolve that had been his companion for so long began to waver, and doubt crept in.

Am I truly making a mistake?

He couldn’t bear to linger any longer; he turned his wheelchair with urgency, as if fleeing from an unseen threat.

Theresa, observing his retreat, shared a glance with Bennie but chose silence. She then turned to him, her voice steady. “Where is Aunt Tania? Is she gone?”

“Aunt Tania isn’t leaving,” Bennie replied, his tone devoid of certainty.

With a furrowed brow, Theresa set off to locate Tania. When she returned half an hour later, she was carrying Tania, who had fainted.

After placing Tania gently inside the helicopter, Theresa’s gaze met Bennie’s. “Is everyone else on board?”

“No,” Bennie shook his head, his expression troubled. “So far, no one has signed up.”

Theresa’s silence spoke volumes. She ushered Tania into the helicopter, then focused her attention on Bennie, her gaze unwavering. “You’re coming too.”

Bennie froze, caught completely off guard by her unexpected directive. “What? Me?”

“Yes, you,” she insisted, gently nudging him forward. “With your tendency to hesitate, you’re of no use in the field. Go with them, take care of Aunt Tania and my dogs.”
