**Chapter 700: All My Loyalty**
Tyger lowered his weapon, the tension in the air dissipating slightly. “You have to come back, Theresa,” he urged, his voice steady yet laced with concern.
Theresa turned to him, a soft smile gracing her lips, a mix of warmth and resolve.
It was over.
With a synchronized motion, Lucas and Tyger sheathed their guns, stepping aside to allow space for the unfolding drama. They also restrained Tania and the dogs, ensuring that the atmosphere remained calm for the moment.
Theresa surveyed the group, her gaze sweeping across the faces of those present. It landed on Quentin, who leaned casually against a wall, a playful grin plastered on his face, as if the gravity of the situation was lost on him.
“Quentin,” she called out, her tone firm yet inviting.
“Beautiful, I’m right here,” he replied, standing up with a goofy smile that seemed almost out of place. He ambled toward her, his confidence unshaken. “I knew you’d come back. But if you don’t, I’m out. Don’t blame me for it.”
Theresa listened intently, her eyes locking onto his single remaining eye for a solid three seconds. She took a deep breath, her heart racing, before responding, “You don’t have to wait any longer. You’re free now. I’m returning your freedom. Take care of yourself. Stay alive. And for heaven’s sake, don’t let anyone catch you.”
She finished her words decisively, leaving no room for argument, and turned away, following Sage onto the waiting plane.
I mean every word of it. I’m doing this intentionally. Nothing seems to reach Quentin; I could either threaten him or charm him, and it would still lead nowhere. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that squeezing even a drop of loyalty from that rascal is a lost cause. So, if pushing him forward proves futile, then perhaps stepping back and letting him go is the best course of action.
If that troublemaker possesses even the slightest shred of conscience, now would be the time for him to show me a hint of loyalty. Just a smidgen would suffice. And if he truly lacks a conscience, then so be it. Letting him go is my choice, one I’ve made for myself. I don’t want him anymore.
Quentin stood there, watching Theresa walk away, dumbfounded.
As the helicopter ascended, the members of the Blazing Sun Alliance gathered their wits and prepared to head straight for the front lines, their focus unwavering.
Quentin remained, the only figure left standing in the deserted plaza, a statue of disbelief.
After what felt like an eternity, he burst out laughing, the sound echoing off the walls. “Playing the long game, huh?”
Quentin had always been sharp, a perceptive soul. From his childhood, he had an uncanny ability to sense people’s intentions before they even uttered a word.
Especially when it came to being manipulated; the moment someone sought to gain something from him, he felt it in his bones.
From the very first moment he laid eyes on Theresa, he sensed her interest.
By their second encounter, he was convinced she had set her sights firmly on him.
By the third meeting, he had ceased his flight, curiosity piqued. He wanted to unravel her true motives, as he could never fathom why she desired his loyalty so desperately.
To him, loyalty felt like a futile endeavor. He couldn’t grasp why she held it in such high regard.
“But if you want it, then you can have it,” he declared, raising his gaze to the receding helicopter, determination etched on his face. “Every bit of it. All my loyalty, my Beautiful.”
