Sitting on her bed, Eizlina was staring at that wall in front of her. She had not slept a wink last night after leaving his room and had cried the entire night in this room. His every word, his every action had hurt her to the extent she could not even define it.
She knew his words shouldn't matter to her, because a cruel man like him didn't deserve so much attention from her, but it was affecting her. His thoughts had started affecting her more than anyone or anything else's thoughts. It was like, something inside her was still not ready to accept that how dared he hurt and say such brutal things to her, even though she knew she should not be expecting anything good from that animalistic man, who knew nothing except for hurting her. But still….she had still not succeeded in making her understand how he could hurt her so much.
A knock on the door grabbed her attention. She looked towards it and found a house help standing there. The house help bowed her head before her.
“Mrs. Elzaek, Ms. Elzaek is calling you in the hall,”
Eizlina clenched the sheets under her, hearing the house help. She was about to deny her because she was in no mood to face that wicked woman, but then something stuck her head. If she wouldn't go there then his mother was definitely going to cause a more big scene to make him go against her, and this could turn things more upsetting between them, which might result in something dangerous for her closed ones, especially Prisila, who was still on their radar, so exhaling a heavy breath, she just slowly nodded her head at the house help.
Exhaling a soft sigh, she stepped down from the bed and without caring to even take a glance at her appearance in the mirror, she walked out of the room. She knew this vulnerable state of hers would definitely make his mother happy, but right now, she couldn't care about anyone else's happiness because her own pain had made her completely exhausted.
Meanwhile in the hall, Theron was sitting on the sofa with his mother and was waiting for Eizlina to come, but suddenly his phone started ringing. It was from his man, Sylvester.
“Excuse me,” he said to his mother, and then stood up on his feet to take the call.
Winona watched him taking a few steps away from there.
“Ms. Elzaek, she is here,” the house staff’s voice made Winona look away from her son, and then she found Eizlina entering the hall. A small smirk crept on her face by seeing her state, which could clearly make anyone understand the kind of havoc igniting inside her and how painful it was.
“Leave,” she said to the house help, who left at her command.
“Good morning, Eizlina. Come here,” Winona uttered to Eizlina, who had chosen to keep her eyes down because she was not even feeling like looking at anyone. She had not even sensed his presence yet, who was talking on the call.
She took a couple of steps closer to Winona and stood in front of her.
“Why did you call me here?” Eizlina asked, having no intention to entertain this wicked woman in any manner at that moment. She was not even feeling like talking with anyone. She had never behaved like this ever in her life. She had never even thought about disrespecting anyone ever in her life, but the things she had faced and endured in this place, they had started turning into a completely different person.
She didn't know whether it was her fake self or true self that she didn't find the necessity of making any positive impression on anyone here, unlike at the Kloez manor, where her only motive used to be to keep everyone happy from her presence, even in those moments when she was not used to feel happy herself.
Winona grinned at her question and took a glance at Theron, who was still busy dealing with his call. He also had not noticed Eizlina's presence yet.
“So, I called you here because I need you to take the responsibilities of being my daughter-in-law now,” Winona said, but Eizlina couldn't understand anything properly.
Daughter-in-law’s responsibilities?
“I want you to accompany your husband to a business party tonight,” Winona uttered, and Eizlina finally started understanding things.
Theron, after getting done with his call, hung it up and then turned around, and there his eyes fell on her, who was standing in front of his mother with her lowered head. His eyes took a brief overview of her whole body and it made him clench his phone in his hold aggressively.
She was still in her last night clothes. Her hair was a complete mess. Her face was looking pale and dry. Her eyes were looking swollen and puffy, indicating how much she had cried last night. It stung something inside his chest, but what angered him the most was her wounded palm. She had removed the bandage he had wrapped around her cut last night, just like he had expected her to do.
In her stubbornness, she could even harm her own self, and this really annoyed and enraged him. She did things but never cared about their consequences on her.
“Theron wants you to accompany him in that party tonight where a lot of very important and famous personalities and business people of our country are going to be present,” he heard his mother telling to Eizlina.
So his mother had already told her everything about that party. He sighed because he wanted to tell Eizlina regarding this on his own because he knew how she was going to react, but this phone call messed things up a bit.
