Chapter 1

My older sister was the target of a powerful, ruthless crime lord, but she was deeply in love with her boyfriend.

So, on the day Julius Howard came for her, she knocked me, her identical twin, unconscious and sent me in her place. Then, she and her boyfriend fled the country, vanishing without a trace.

Sometimes he’d show me a small kindness when he was pleased; other times, he’d slap me when he wasn’t. It was a life

Ten years later, my sister, Nina Johnson, suddenly returned.

She found Julius and claimed that I was the one who had caused her to fall into the river and lose her memory years

ago, all because I wanted to climb the social ladder.

She claimed my actions were why she and Julius had missed out on a decade together. Julius was furious. He immediately

ordered his men to lock me in the basement.

While visiting me, Nina took the opportunity to tightly wrap a heavy iron chain around my neck.

“I’m sorry, little sister,” she hissed. “If you don’t die, my lie will eventually be exposed!”

She choked the life out of me. My eyes, wide with pure, burning resentment, stared as I took my final breath.

When I opened them again, I was back on the day Julius came for my sister.

I stepped forward and volunteered. “Nina, you and your boyfriend go. I’ll take your place and marry Julius Howard!”

This time, the powerful leader of the underworld’s one true love would be me!

‘Mom! Dad! Please save me! I don’t want to marry Julius!”

My sister Nina’s cries were so close, and with a sudden jolt, I realized I had been reborn.

“Julius kills without blinking! I’ve heard he’s tortured and killed several women! Marrying him is a death sentence!”

“Besides, I already vowed that I would only ever marry Charlie Lewis. If I can’t be with Charlie, I’d rather die!”

My mother’s voice was tearful. “But we can’t cross him! If you don’t go, our entire family will be wiped out!”

My father wiped his eyes. “It’s my fault for being useless; I can’t protect my own daughter. Fine, let them kill me. If

someone dies, maybe they’ll back off a little.”

Before Nina could say anything. I stepped forward. “Nina, you and your boyfriend go. I’ll take your place and marry

Julius!”

The entire family stared at me in shock, especially Nina. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head.

“Nina and I are twins, we look exactly alike,” I explained. “If I marry him instead of her. Julius won’t notice.”

My mother hesitated. “It’s good that you’re willing to go for your sister, but Julius is so influential. Can we really fool him

forever? What if he finds out one day? Will he ever forgive us?”

My father made a firm decision. “Nina, just go. I’ll give you the fifty thousand dollars I’ve saved over the years. You and

Charlie can go to Australia. Julius’s influence shouldn’t reach that far.”

My parents didn’t show a single ounce of worry about my impending marriage into the Howard family.

Their entire focus was on their precious eldest daughter. I, the younger daughter, was always expendable.

Nina considered this for a long time, then lowered her voice.

“Mom and Dad, why don’t you just hold a funeral? Say that Willow fell into the river and drowned. That way, our family

suddenly having one less person won’t look so suspicious.”

Once they finalized their plan, they immediately packed my things and sent me into the car that the Howard family had

sent to pick up the bride.
