To Love a Shadow To Be the Sun novel Chapter 376

A humorless smile touched Brian's lips. "Mr. Lawrence, you seem… different. You weren't this arrogant before."

Jason, unwilling to let an outsider see the cracks in his memory, turned his attention to Elara. "If you're done talking, let's go."

But Elara stood her ground. "We're not finished. He's giving me a ride to the office, and we'll talk on the way."

Jason's expression tightened, his voice strained with suppressed anger. "You need to remember who your fiancé is!"

Brian's eyebrows shot up in amusement.

Elara, however, remained perfectly calm, her voice tinged with ice. "I'm just having a conversation with him. Is that something to be ashamed of? Why are you so anxious?"

Her words left Jason speechless, his face growing even darker. Worried he might have an episode, Elara stepped forward and gently patted his back. "I know what you want to talk about, but I need more time to think. I have things to do today. I'm leaving."

Without waiting for his reaction, she turned and walked away from the restaurant with Brian.

Renata handled her end of things smoothly, but it wasn't long before her phone rang. It was Zane. After listening to his question, she glanced at the departing Maybach and reported with brutal honesty, "Sir, Miss Jules has left you. She went with her ex-husband."

Zane was silent.

Inside the Maybach, Elara sat pressed against the door, staring out the window.

"I know Jason hurt his head," Brian said with a faint smile, "but I never thought Zane would actually agree to let you be his fiancée. Do the Lawrences just pass their women around?"

Elara turned to him, her gaze glacial. "Jason saved my life. I'm doing this as part of his therapy. And even if there were something real between us, it would be none of your business. You said you had a lead?"
