“None of your damn business.” Sophia shot back, not in the mood to deal with his crap. She tried to brush past him and
head inside.
But Lucas wasn’t about to let her off that easily. He grabbed her wrist in a flash, hauling her straight into his arms and locking her in place.
Sophia struggled, shouting. “Let go of me.”
Lucas leaned in, sniffing along her neck like a damn police dog.
Sophia burned with shame and fury. “What the hell are you doing, Lucas? Let go of me.”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m checking whose scent is all over you, Sophia. You smell like another man. Who the hell is he?” Lucas snapped.
Sophia’s eyes narrowed, fury bubbling up. “Are you some kind of pervert?”
Lucas clamped her chin, voice ice–cold. “Tell me, who was it? Which guy were you getting close to tonight?”
Sophia couldn’t care less about his jealous tantrum. She was just about to give him a full–on eye roll when she caught sight of a fresh hickey on his neck.
Out of nowhere, she found the strength to shove him away. “Before you start grilling me, maybe clean up those love bites you got from sneaking around.”
Lucas stiffened, caught off guard, following her gaze and glancing down. He couldn’t see the mark, but with Sophia’s eyes stabbing into him like a hundred needles, he felt a wave of discomfort crawling over his skin.
“I… Lucas stammered.
Sophia wasn’t about to listen to any more of his crap. She shot past him and marched straight back to her room without looking back. Lucas was left standing there, fists clenched and veins bulging on his forehead.
He pulled out his phone and made a call. It took a while before someone finally answered. “Mr. Westwood, is there something urgent? It’s so late.”
“Kevin, tomorrow I want two people shadowing Mrs. Westwood around the clock. I need to know everyone she meets and everything she says,” Lucas ordered coldly.
Kevin hesitated. “Mr. Westwood, Mrs. Westwood seems to know she’s being followed. She managed to lose the people we sent during the day.”
“Then get me two new faces, Lucas snapped, his rage barely contained.
Sophia didn’t even bother acknowledging him. The real reason she was still living at the Cherry Grove was to keep Lucas from finding out she had her own apartment now.
“I’m meeting up with Annabelle to do some shopping,” Sophia replied.
Lucas bristled at the mention of Annabelle, his tone oozing sarcasm. “Seriously, why do you always stick to her like glue? It’s not like you two are girlfriends or something.”
Sophia just scoffed and headed out the door. Lucas, furious, threw down his fork and stormed over. “Emily and I are going shopping too. You’re coming with us.”
Sophia gave him a look like he was crazy. “Seriously, are you nuts?”
Lucas grabbed her wrist, holding her tight. “After the scene you pulled at my mom’s birthday party, you’re picking out a gift for her.”
Sophia knew he was just out to aggravate her today. She let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Sure, I’ll go, but don’t come crying to me if you regret it.”
